"They were sent weeks ago, so I guess I was being naïve thinking he’d lost interest. Do you think that's how he found me?"
Noah drops his hand from her face and moves to his feet. "There's only one way to find out. Where's your phone?"
She glances at him and back at me. "In my rucksack in the bottom of my wardrobe, but it's switched off now."
Noah is already on his way up to her room.
"Shit, Caleb, I didn't even think."
I reach out for her hand and squeeze it gently. "It's okay. We should have checked with you."
I run my hand through my hair, desperate for a haircut, but I know how much Noah likes it when I grow it out.
"He's not going to get away with this," I say more to myself than Jessica, who is worrying her bottom lip. Noah returns, her phone in hand, laptop under his arm and some connector cables.
I move so he can set it up on the coffee table.
"Passcode, please?"
She holds it to her face, unlocking the screen.
"Thank you." I know he could have easily accessed it, but I'm sure he doesn't want to waste more time than necessary.
A knock at the door causes Jessica to jump and cover her chest with her palm.
"I'll get it. Are you comfortable wearing your robe, or did you want to put something on quickly?"
She's about to be surrounded by men, so I at least want to give her the option.
"Noah will go with you as I see the guys in."
He holds out his hand and pulls her to her feet, and I wait until they disappear upstairs.
Taking a deep breath, I go to the front door, checking the cam before turning off the alarm and pulling the door open.
"Caleb," Elliot says in greeting with a nod.
Usually, his presence alone would bother me. He's a good guy, but he'll always be Noah's ex, and what can I say? I can be a jealous bastard. The crazy thing is, I knew him before I even met Noah, and there was a time we were even friends. But I need to push my ego aside. If anyone can help, it's these guys.
"Hi, man, thanks for coming." I hold out my hand, and he doesn't hesitate to take it and give it a firm shake.
Letting go, I step aside.
"Hey, Jax," I shake his hand and then River's before closing the door behind them.
"Noah will be down in a sec. He's just with Jessica."
Elliot tilts his head as if he's about to speak, but footsteps draw our attention as they both come downstairs.
"Well, I'll be damned, Jessica Harper. When he said Jessica, I did wonder."
She smiles as he approaches her, and he pulls her into a quick hug before stepping back.
Okay, yeah, I'm still a jealous bastard.
I walk up and pull her to my side. I can't hide my smile as Elliot glances at her attire. She's in one of my t-shirts, and a pair of Noah's jogging bottoms rolled at the waist.
