“Morning,” he grumbles.

“Morning.” I turn my face towards him, and he kisses me.

“You all right?” he asks, moving me so he can get under the shower jets.

I nod, but it’s a contradiction to my reply. “I think we should talk to Jessica about maybe making a statement about her ex.”

He scoffs at that. “Or we can just take care of him ourselves.”

The thing is, I know he’s being serious. “Caleb, as tempting as that sounds, us behind bars isn’t the answer.”

He wipes the water from his eyes and slicks his wet hair back as he focuses on me.

“I never said anything about getting caught.” He’s not even joking. This man is ex-forces, trained in hand-to-hand combat. As much as I want to take the law into our own hands, that isn’t how to do it.

Reaching for the shower gel and lathering it in the loofah, I nudge my chin for him to come closer as I work the suds over his torso.

“Caleb, I have no doubt you could take him out and make it look like an accident. But Jessica needs closure, a way for her to take her power back. Us going in with our fists isn’t going to fix this. Turn.”

He faces the wall, resting his forearm against the tiled wall as I wash his back.

“She’s ours, Noah, and we protect what’s ours.”

I kiss his shoulder and wrap my arms around his waist, pulling him against my chest.

“I know. But we need to tread carefully. I don’t want her to think we’re anything like that arsehole. Don’t you think she’s already had enough violence?”

He turns his face towards mine, his eyes scanning my face.

“I hate it when you’re right. Still doesn’t stop me from wanting to gut the cunt like a fish, though,” he admits.

I can’t say I disagree with him there.

“I’ll see how she is after the counselling, and maybe I’ll try talking to her then.”

The last thing I want to do is make her feel pressured.

He groans as I trail my fingers across his stomach. “Where are you going to take her shopping?”

I kiss his neck. “Selfridges, figure it’ll have everything she might need.”

Lowering my hand, I slowly work my fist up and down his dick.

“No expense spared. Get her whatever she wants.”

“Of course.”

He wraps his fist over mine, setting the pace. “Did you see how well she responds to us? She’s fucking amazing, right?”

Caleb is big on communication, but his feelings he reserves for those he cares about.

“She is. Is it weird how well she fits in with us, a missing puzzle piece we didn’t know we were missing until she arrived on our doorstep battered and bruised?”

I clench my jaw, the vivid image I don’t think will ever disappear.

Caleb turns in my arms. “No, not weird at all. I just worry I might scare her away,” he admits.

I let out a soft laugh. “She saw you fucking me. If that didn’t scare her off, I don’t think anything will.”
