We wait maybe less than a minute for her to digest our admission, and it takes everything in me to stay seated, scared if I move, it will spook her.

I watch tears well up in her eyes, a shimmering mix of disbelief and hope. "You...you both feel that way?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

I nod as hope fills my chest. “Yes, we do.”

“So, what we want to know is if those feelings transcend to you too. Are we reading something into this that isn’t there, or have you developed feelings for us as well?”

Bringing her thumb to her lips, she chews on the nail nervously.

“It’s okay if you can’t answer that or need time to digest what we’ve just told you.”

She shakes her head, eyes glancing between the two of us. “I like you,” she says, looking at Caleb and me. “Both of you, but I’m also a little confused.”

“Is that because this doesn’t conform to society's conventional standards?” Caleb asks, his voice calm, neutral even.

“I don’t know, maybe. I’ve been conflicted, thinking it was all in my head.”

“Not in your head,” I say, hoping my words help ease any uncertainty she might be having. This is a lot to get her head around.

“We’re not going to lie, little one. We know this is a lot. But we want to be honest with you. And if you’re open to it, we’d like to explore the possibility of being with you.”

Her eyes widen again, but now there’s a small spark of intrigue and, dare I say excitement. We let the suggestion settle, giving her time to gather her thoughts.

“I’ve never had a connection like this with anyone, let alone two people.”

Caleb moves to his feet and slowly walks to where Jessica is sitting before kneeling in front of her, his gaze unwavering. “And never have we. Yes, we’ve done things together as a couple that involve other parties, but feelings have never been involved before. This is new for us too, Jessica.”

He slowly holds out his hand, and without hesitation, she takes it in hers, gripping his like a lifeline.

“The connection we all share is undeniable. And we’d like to see where this goes. Take some time to explore the possibilities. If that's something you’d be interested in doing?”

She nods slowly, and I already know he will need a verbal answer before Caleb speaks because communication is vital.

“Words, we need to hear the words, little one.”

Clearing her throat, I see the moment her resolve kicks in—she pushes her shoulders back, that spark of determination front and centre.

“Yes, I’d like to explore this—with the two of you.”

Relief floods through me, mingled with anticipation. We’ve taken the first step, but there’s still a long road ahead; this is already a huge milestone: admitting our feelings.

Caleb rises to his feet and gently tugs on her hand until she joins him. He pulls her against him, holds her close.

“We’ll take this slow. I can’t promise it will be easy. But I know that you are more than worth the effort.”

He kisses the crown of her head before stepping back, hands moving to her shoulders, and as she gazes up, her eyes are full of emotion.

The tension is still taut, but I think it’s for entirely different reasons.

“How about we watch a film,” I say, rising to my feet and taking her hand in mine before wrapping her in my arms, needing to close the distance. Holding her like this now seems so much more profound.

Caleb’s nostrils flare as he watches, and the smile that breaks out on his face is enough to make me smile in return. Because I can see his relief, knowing she wants to explore this too. When I step back, lead her to the sofa, and lower myself, she follows suit and sits beside me. Caleb grabs the remote, taking up the seat on her other side.

I reach over and tilt her chin until she’s looking at me. “You need to breathe, sweet girl. Nothing has changed, we’re still us, we’re not about to jump you. We want you to relax.”

She licks her lips, and my dick stirs to life, but I ignore it. It’s not the first time I’ve been aroused in her presence, but right now, this is more than sexual need or desire.

It takes a while for her to relax, and when she does, it's with her head on my shoulder, legs tucked up. Caleb’s palm rests flat against her thigh, his thumb making small circular motions. I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. This is just the beginning, and yet it feels so right. And as we all sit cocooned on the sofa, I know deep in my heart that we’ve made the right choice.
