Piper turned into me, going to her tiptoes and nuzzling against my neck.
“You showered without me.”
“I could be persuaded to take another.”
She grinned.
“Feed me first. Then fuck me. Showering can wait.”
“Damn, woman. I didn’t think you could be more perfect.”
Piper laughed again, grabbed my hand and led me back to the kitchen.
Chapter Five
~ Piper ~
It was time for another pack run. I’d been mated to Michael for a whole month, and tonight, I’d tell him something special. I’d waited until I saw Raina earlier and confirmed my suspicions. She’d been as excited as I was and assured me all the other mates would be, too. I liked them all but had to admit I still felt a little like an outsider. Not from anything they did, but because they were already so close to one another.
Raina and Ivy had been best friends since they were little girls, which worked since Ivy was mated to the pack beta, Cian. Belinda James, Bastion’s sister, was forming a tight bond with her sister-in-law, Cici, who happened to be mated to Bastion’s personal bodyguard, Simon. Then there were Eliza and Rebbie who were mated to Gabe and Taylor. Those two also hung out with Belinda and Cici, which was to be expected since their mates were always together. It wasn’t that Michael was the odd man out. He was obviously closest with Anthony and Donovan, who were in and out of our house a lot. But neither man was mated, and if Michael’s theory panned out, when they did, they’d be sharing the same woman.
I still had Arwen, thankfully. She was messing around with one of the newly returned Rigton Pack wolves but had mentioned more than once lately that she had itchy feet. I knew it was only a matter of time before she left the James Pack. We’d had a long talk after my mating ceremony where she’d stood up with me as my family. She’d admitted she’d only joined with the pack to give me a home. She’d stayed because she knew there was something between Michael and me. She’d given my mate a hard time about taking so long to claim me. Teased that it would probably be another three years before he gave me a baby. She’d definitely been wrong there.
“There you are!” Arwen called as she moved toward me. She was already fully naked and drawing attention. She knew it, too. From the way some of the Rigtons glanced her way, I thought she might be fooling around with more than one of them.
“Where’s your mate?”
She glanced around as if Michael might step from the woods near us.
“He was doing something with Donovan and Anthony. He’s meeting me here.”
“Hmm,” she offered then focused on me. “Why are you still dressed? It’s a run, baby girl! Get those clothes off and let the wild out.”
I laughed. If I had a nickel for every time she’d said those words to me…
“You know I’ll wait until the last minute.”
“Girl, mating hasn’t changed you a bit.”
I grinned. Oh, it had. I was insatiable when it came to Michael. I’d even started walking around the house naked. Then almost died of embarrassment when Anthony had walked in on Michael taking me from behind while I was bent over the kitchen table. Not that he’d seen anything except Michael’s ass. But Anthony being Anthony had teased me mercilessly about it. I wasn’t sure if it was to get at me or Michael as my mate growled every time.
“Got plans after the run?”
Two of the Rigton wolves walked over to join us, completely naked. I kept my gaze above the neck.
“That depends,” Arwen practically purred as she turned toward them. “What do you have in mind, Riggs?”
“West and I might hang out for a bit. Nice night,” the male she’d called Riggs offered.
“Will anyone else be joining us?” Arwen asked, flicking her gaze back toward the rest of the Rigtons, who stood together with their alpha and his mate.
“I think a few of them might be persuaded,” West said as his gaze dipped over Arwen.
“Then I guess I’ll see you boys after the run.” She waved them away as she turned back to me.
“A few?” I whispered. “Three? Four?”
“If I’m lucky, girl,” Arwen teased. “If I’m lucky. Those wolves.” She did a full body shiver. “They know how to make a wolf howl in all the right ways.”
