I’d said those same words earlier, and I’d meant them.
“You killed for me.”
A growl rumbled up my chest at the reminder of Lockhart and what he’d sought to destroy.
“There’s no limit to the blood I’d spill to protect you.”
She rocked forward again, bringing her hands with her and planting them on my chest. She leaned closer, catching my jaw between her teeth and giving it a nip before she spread soothing kisses along it.
“Kiss me,” I ordered, and with a laugh that filled my soul, she took my mouth, taking my heart and soul with it.
This woman. This strong, fierce, lone wolf owned every inch of me. As her tongue stroked along mine and her fingers sifted through the hair on my chest, she murmured the words that slipped inside me, filling up all the broken, empty places hidden within me.
“I love you.”
I clasped her close, rolling until she was under me. I cushioned her ass cheeks in my palms and powered into her. She kept repeating those three words even as her voice hitched and broke on a cry of ecstasy. I roared my own vow to the heavens as I joined her, my release filling her up.
“I love you!”
I rolled again, bringing her with me so she was tucked against my chest, her head lying over my heart, her breath washing over my skin in pants and gasps. I rubbed one hand lazily along her back while I fought to control my own breathing.
I needed to get up. To dress her in my shirt again and carry her back to the SUV, so we could go home. Home. Our home. I wanted to make love to her again and again until my senses were drowning in her and the beast inside was convinced she was no longer in danger. It would take time for my wolf to accept that. Days of wallowing in nothing but sweet words and carnal pleasure.
Finally, I sat up, scooping her into my arms and reaching for my shirt. I gave it a shake before handing it to her.
“Slip that back on, baby.”
She pulled it on then leaned her head into my neck while I stood, easily taking her with me until she was high against my chest.
“It’s finally over,” she whispered as I carried her to join the other where they waited for us.
“No,” I disagreed. “He’s over. You and I… We’re just beginning.”
Chapter Eleven
~Eliza~
Four Weeks Later
“You really lived out of your Jeep for years?” Raina asked as she and Bee watched me pull out stuff and sort it into piles.
“It’s not so bad,” I tried to assure them, but Bee merely laughed.
She pointed to my vehicle. “Willing to give up Gabe’s bed for another night spent in there?”
“Hell, no.”
We all laughed at that. There was nothing I preferred to time with my mate. We’d spent the first few days after Cam’s death in Gabe’s room. We’d gone back to eating, sleeping, and showering and doing very little else. We hadn’t been able to get enough of each other. Every touch only seemed to feed the flames. Each orgasm was only a shadow of the one that followed.
Gabe couldn’t stop touching me. It was as if he feared I’d disappear if he didn’t hold on tight enough. He wrapped around me when we slept and stayed inside me when we were awake. Not that I was complaining.
We’d probably still be doing that if Bas hadn’t pounded on the door and ordered Gabe to get his sorry ass in gear. Gabe had hollered at his alpha to get a life and leave him alone. Bas had merely laughed and said if he didn’t get it in gear, Bas was going to sic Raina on him. That got my mate moving.
I’d met most of the pack, and Rebbie and Cici had taken me aside to talk about Gabe’s and my mating ceremony, which had taken place two days ago. It had been one of the most amazing days of my life. One I’d never forget for as long as I lived. I hadn’t realized how much that ceremony would mean to me. Gabe had.
“Earth to Eliza,” Bee called.
“Sorry.”
