“If he comes after her, I’m going to kill him.”

Bas didn’t bat an eye. He merely nodded. He’d do the same if anyone came after Raina.

“I’ve got an idea,” Anthony said, and his tone made me think he wasn’t sure I’d like it.

“We’re not using Eliza as bait,” I growled.

Anthony shook his head.

“No, we’re not. Besides, once Lockhart catches word of the newest member of our pack…” Anthony paused. “The newest mated member of our pack. He’ll veer from his plan to take Eliza, and favor another idea.”

I nodded, liking this idea much better.

“He’ll come after me.”

“Yes,” Simon agreed. “And we’re going to let him. We’re going to let you walk right into whatever trap they lay for you. Then we’re going to spring our own.”

“And take down every one of those bastards,” Bas promised. “For the sheer hell they’ve put your mate through over the last few years.”

The fury on his face echoed mine. This was my pack, my brothers. I’d never once doubted they had my back. I knew they’d protect my mate, as well.

“Let’s get him.”

My wolf pressed against my skin in silent agreement. He was as ready to spill blood as I was. Eliza would never again look over her shoulder in fear of what lurked behind her. Lockhart had chosen this path when he’d forced a young girl to live with him with the intention of making her his mate. Eliza and I would end it, and by the time we were through, there wouldn’t be enough of Lockhart left to hurt anyone.

Chapter Seven

~Eliza~

The guys were all quiet when I returned to the kitchen and joined them. I knew something was up, but I ate my fill, trusting Gabe would tell me later. Which was why we now headed back to the pool house instead of the garage and my Jeep.

“Tell me everything,” I demanded as soon as we stepped inside his house.

“How do you feel about a mating ceremony?” Gabe asked.

I shrugged. “I hadn’t actually thought about it, yet. I mean…” I waved my hand back and forth between us. “We’re already mated, right? There’s no going back, ceremony or not. Right?”

He stepped into me, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me against him.

“We’re mated. Nothing changes that.”

“And you really want to talk about a mating ceremony now? With Cam still lingering around? When we don’t know what he…”

I broke off as everything connected in my brain.

“You’re planning to draw him out, using us as bait.”

I didn’t need his nod as confirmation. I felt the truth of it as soon as the thought entered my head. Still, he shook his head.

“Using me as bait.”

“No,” I denied.

“Yes,” he countered. “He’ll come for me because I took you from him. It’ll be a challenge he can’t ignore. When he does, we’ll be waiting for him.”

“A bloodbath isn’t really the mating ceremony a girl dreams of,” I scoffed.

“Not going to happen. We’ll wait until this is over. When you’re ready, we’ll plan our ceremony. We just want Lockhart to believe we’re planning it for a few days from now.”
