I grunt in response, eyeing up his custom Softail. “It's alright.” I give.

The two men with him are ones I know. Damon Keller and Grayson Hunt.

Damon is another one who was apparently sick of Marco’s bullshit, according to Otis.

“Gentleman,” Aiden says as he stops in front of me. He’s about my height and a big grizzly fucker. He’s cool, reserved. He’s nothing like his half brother.

I get right down to it.

“This morning, I buried your cocksucker brother in the woods with my cousin,” I say as the two men behind Aiden draw their weapons.

Both Ax and Kai immediately draw theirs.

Aiden doesn’t even flinch. He turns his head and gives him the hand signal to drop them. They do.

“Why?” he asks calmly.

“They were conspiring to take over my club. I didn’t like that.”

“Can’t say I blame you,” Aiden says and raises his hands in truce, then pulls a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and offers me one. I shake my head. He lights it.

“My half brother had a fairly big drug problem. He’s been out of control for years.”

“Starting with allowing one of your members to rape my Enforcer’s sister when she was sixteen.”

Aiden inhales. “I understand why you had your panties in a twist over that, but you killed him so that’s dealt with then, yeah?”

I nod. “Yep.”

“And the way I see it, each of us lost someone today, so what’s fair is fair.”

“Agreed.”

“I’ve heard through the grapevine you were planning on patching us over?” Aiden asks, sucking in another round of smoke.

“I was.”

“And now?”

“Depends,” I say, folding my arms over my chest. I turn to Kai and Ax. “Give us a minute.”

Aiden turns and waves off his men until we’re left standing alone.

“All due respect, you’re lucky I didn’t come and rip your fucking throat out for scaring my ol’ lady. And your former leader was a fucking train wreck. I assume this means you’re taking over, but I don’t know how this works?”

“Well, we agree on one thing at least,” Aiden says as he stubs out his smoke. “And yes, I will take over. Marco was our president; we had our differences, but I have the support of all my men. And yeah, I came to… understand who your ol’ lady was. I didn’t know what Marco had gotten us into, I had to protect the rest of my men and our club. I had to understand how to stop you and your club from attacking us further. But it was nothing personal. It was business. Marco and I have been at odds for over a year. He was making bad choices, side deals, his drug problem was out of fucking hand. It’s not what his father left him when he stepped down.”

“Sounds like he got into bed with my cousin because they were a lot alike then.”

“Mm-hmm,” Aiden grunts. “Greedy and not the brightest?”

I smirk back. “Yeah.”

“What do you want?” he asks.

“I want your club to give up their attacks on my clinics. There are plenty of junkies out there for you, our business is in recovery and it’s ours.”

Aiden nods.
