“We’re okay, right?”
I couldn’t say what I wanted to say out loud, so I just said what I always say when I need to stop myself from telling her that I love her. “Forever and always.” I kissed her head. “Get some sleep. We have a busy day tomorrow.”
“Good night, Nick.”
“Night Sweets.”
She was snoring again within minutes. The breath from her nose lightly brushed my chest. Now, if only I could get my brain to shut off and stop thinking about her touching me, we would be golden.
Chapter thirteen
Callie
Non-Honeymoon Day 2
The sound of deep snores woke me up. I felt his every breath on my head. I must have held onto him and not moved. One of my legs was sprawled over both of his, and my hand was resting on something hard.
OH MY GOD!I snatched my hand away and sat up. He shifted, turning toward me, but his eyes remained closed. I was glad because if they had opened, he would have caught me staring at his dick. It looked like it was going to pop out of his pants. I started thinking about what could be going on in his head to make him that excited. His mouth fell open with his snores. I couldn’t help the light giggle that erupted from me.
A flutter arose in my stomach at the realization I really enjoyed waking up next to him. It was a weird feeling, but good. A piece of his hair was falling over his forehead, and I couldn’t help but reach out to gently move it. I found myself just staring at him with admiration.
I leaned over him to grab my phone, which was on his side table since mine didn’t have an electrical plug. We had about anhour left if we wanted to grab the included breakfast. We are supposed to be at a cooking class at eleven and a couple's hike is scheduled for later this afternoon. If I let him sleep through breakfast, we could just pick something up when we headed out.
I was so lost in my own thoughts as I leaned over him that I didn’t even notice his eyes were now open.
“Mornin’ Sweets, you trying to cop a feel or something?”
I immediately abandoned grabbing my phone and sat back, pulling the covers over me. He chuckled and sat up against the headboard.
“What's got that beautiful brain going a thousand miles a minute?” He playfully tapped his index finger on my forehead.
I lightly pushed his hand away, and he chuckled again as he got up. I was staring again. He caught me, again.
“You gonna stop ogling me like a piece of meat?” he said with a smirk-filled grin. “I mean, I don’t mind it, I guess.”
“Fuck you,” I smiled. “Do you want to get the included breakfast or stop somewhere later?”
I was trying to ignore his question. Luckily, he let me.
“It’s your honeymoon, babe. You choose what we do.”
He immediately looked regretful.
“Fuck, Callie, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have—”
I held up a hand. “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”
I said it more curtly than I intended to. He’s right though, it is my honeymoon, but I'm doing my best to forget that. Although it's been nothing but weird since we got here, it's been nice spending time away from home. It’s been even nicer that I'm here with Nick.
I was rummaging through my bag, and Nick came up behind me. He put his hands on my upper arms to settle me, then slid them around my midsection, hugging me tight. As he leaned down, he put his chin on my shoulder and propped his big ol’head onto mine. I could feel his breath on my neck, and I was trying my hardest not to shiver.
“I really am sorry, Sweets.” He kissed my cheek. “Forgive me.”
He sounded a little worried. I smiled and turned in his arms, and he stood up but didn’t let go to give me room. I looked into his perfect blue eyes, then hugged him tight because his gaze was too intense.
“Of course, it's okay. Don’t worry about it,” I assured him.
He kissed my forehead and made his way into the bathroom to change.
