He sat in the chair next to me. “I need you to trust me. I’m sure that asshole told you to keep your mouth shut. You gotta tell us. What did Bullet have planned for tonight?”
I nodded but my guts were in knots. I felt like I was betraying Bullet but somehow Blue had gotten hurt. I couldn’t believe Bullet would hurt him, so something else must have happened. “He…ah…he went after Emerson.”
“We need the abridged version, Stormy.” Dozer leaned against the wall. “We’re out of time.”
“Vega and Kodiak are helping him.” I told them everything they’d planned. “Bullet and Kodiak were going to take Emerson at the penthouse.”
“Then what the fuck was Bullet doing at Indulgence with Barras?”
“What? No. No.” Fear clawed up my throat. “Barras wasn’t at Indulgence. Blue was.” I shook my head. Bullet had gone to help Blue with Kiss. “Bullet went there for Blue.”
“Why the fuck is Blue mixed up in this shit?” Dozer asked.
“He’s not. Bullet is pissed because Blue was supposed to be here with me, but Kiss sent him a text and said she was in trouble.” My face heated as I fought against the tears filling my eyes. “I told him to go.”
Romeo raked his hands through his hair. “What the fuck is Blue doing with Kiss?”
“Wait.” Rogue lunged to his feet. “Some things are adding up. Vega is with Kiss and Blue. Bullet must have walked into a setup. Barras was waiting.”
“Willow will patch Blue up,” Blade said. “We’ll get more answers once he’s here.”
Rogue slammed his fist into the wall. “We need to go. Bullet is the only one with answers.”
I jumped. Tears spilled onto my cheeks. “Where is Bullet?”
But I didn’t need to ask. The tension in the room suffocated. Blood roared through my head. Blade’s lips were moving, but the words hung between us.
“Barras has him,” Rogue said. “Kodiak is following them.”
Romeo sat in the chair Rogue vacated. “Don’t worry, sunshine. As soon as Blue and Kiss get here, we’re going after him.”
“We should go now,” Rogue said. “With every minute we wait, they put more distance between us and Bullet.”
The door flew open. “Willow is here.” Jazzy’s clipped words had everyone’s attention. “And Vega just came through the gate.”
“Fuck. Finally.” Rogue stormed out of the room.
Blade gripped Dozer’s shoulder. “Get Torch. We’re going to need weapons from the locker. Stay in contact with Kodiak. Do we know where they’re headed?”
“Not yet,” Dozer said.
The guys ran out of the MC. I stood in the middle of the chapel, unsure of what to do and feeling responsible…because I was.
“Move,” Blade hollered to someone in his way. He carried a young blonde girl, about my age, in his arms. Her hands were crusted with blood.
“Put me down.” She struggled to get out of his arms. “I don’t need to be carried.”
“Kiss, I swear to God.” Blade set her on her feet.
“Don’t say shit to me, Blade. I just need Blue.” She spun toward the door as Vega and Romeo angled through the doorway. Each had an arm around Blue. He could barely stand, but he was conscious.
“Willow, he’s hurt,” Romeo said.
“Vega,” Rogue hollered. “You’ve been following Barras. Any idea where they’d take him?”
“Industrial park, east side.”
Kiss wiped tears from her eyes. “This is my fault.”
