“Here. Xerlon.”

Her brows drew together making a star-shape between them. “Isn’t this the Roulex’s planet?”

“No.” I crossed my arms, ignoring the sting from my healing wound as I did so. “It has always been ours—the Angeliminir— and the Roulex invaded and tried to take over.”

She paled, sliding down the wall and sitting down. “Oh.”

“That’s all you have to say?” I shook my head. “What fanciful, fucking story did they tell you? That we were a savage race they tried to obliterate?”

Instead of answering me, she covered her mouth with her hands.

“And when they figured out we had something they wanted, they have tried to steal it from us by whatever means necessary.”

Jody pulled her hands from her face, tucking them underneath her arms. “T-That’s not possible.”

What kind of lies had they fed Jody? And worse, why was it that she believed them so easily? What did they offer her in exchange to fool her?

“Why do you think I’m stuck in here? Why did they send you in here with me?” I had to make her realize the danger she was in. “They want the secrets of my race so they can destroy us. With the power of healing, they could go after other planets when they are finished with ours. Maybe they’ll even rape Earth next.”

A clank sounded nearby, and I sighed.

“It’s dinner time. You should eat while you can as they only serve us at dawn and dusk.”

The Roulex slid the food trays under the barred door, but Jody made no move to grab hers.

I shrugged and snatched the one closest to me. Not eating was a mistake I’d made early on. Now I learned to eat no matter how much they’d beaten me. No matter how much I still grieved for my sister. And Knox had escaped?

Fucking bastard deserved a beating from my fists. He never should’ve given in to my sister and taken her out of our protective shields. It was his fault she was dead. His fault that we were captured. If only he’d told her no. And now he was flying free?

Now I had a new reason to escape.
