At her words, heat pricked along me. She dove forward, crashing into me. Lightning burned within me and I screamed until my throat felt like it was bleeding and raw.

I was slammed back into my body. All my limbs and muscles felt like they were encased in cement. I was laying on one of the gurneys, but I wasn’t tied down.

The Roulex medic spoke to someone on her comm device and I played possum both to regain my senses, since my vision was blurry, and to use this chance to get away.

“I don’t know why she had such a violent reaction,” the Roulex snapped. “The first dose did nothing and so we doubled it. Everything should’ve been fine. Her bloodwork shows that she was a prime candidate to mate with the Angeliminir.”

There was a break as she listened to whatever the being on the other end of the line was saying.

“Understood. We have a few other prospects we can bring in immediately. One is a transfer from another prison in the NGC Galaxy.”

“Of course. We will dispose of her body.” Her tail swished. “And we’ll do the same with her father. Best if any loose ends are tied up. We don’t want anyone snooping around.”
