The Roulex didn’t answer but waved a clawed hand and the two guards holding down my arm let go. They unlocked my chains, but the bounds around my soul remained. I’d been so wrong to make a pregnancy agreement with them. So desperate to help my dad I had fallen for their lies. I was their prisoner, their slave to do with as they wished. My survival and my dad’s locked around persuading Axton to have sex with me when I was sure he never wanted to even see me again. And I wanted to see that smirk on his face, feel his caresses and kisses. Wanted to know how to drive him crazy as he had done to me in such a short time.

I was hauled from the gurney with my legs wobbly. Ice filled my veins on the inside while I burned up on the outside. On the way back to the cell, the walls looked warped, like the stones were shifting colors between the dull gray and an eerie green.

“Don’t…t-take m-meee…b-back,” I tried to squeeze out past my raw throat and chattering teeth.

What would Axton do to me? A hysterical giggle burst from my lips. What the hell was wrong with me? I’d left Axton in pain and called his enemy to come rescue me. He had to hate me. And that thought made bile surge into the back of my throat.

I leaned over and vomited.

The Roulex snarled, slapping me across the face. My entire cheek felt like it cracked. Pain splintered across my skull. I wasn’t given time to recover before I was yanked up and half-dragged back to the cell.

They opened the door and tossed me inside. I could feel the waves of hate rolling off Axton before I even saw him. There was no way he was going to even come near me.

Which meant my dad was going to die in seven days.
