He stomped to the other end of the cell, as far as he could get from me and laid down. His back and wings to me.

A snicker sounded from the bared door. Three Roulex stood there gawking with their buggy, black eyes. Their scales a purplish color and heat broke up my chest and into my face. They’d been watching. Breeder—that’s the word they had used that I thought was a mistranslation. Fuck no!

They leered at me and I crossed my arms over my chest, sinking to the dirty, prison floor. They must have been what Knox was taking about them tricking us.

When the Roulex gave up, seeing neither I nor Knox were giving them any entertainment, they left.

For a long time, I stared at Knox, unable to say anything. My body still buzzing from his kisses…his touch. But even though he wasn’t moving or saying anything, Knox was giving off strong vibes to stay away from him.

Fine. Wasn’t my fault that either of us were locked in this cell together. Or that our jailers could watch us whenever they wanted. Hell, I was surprised they came in person as I had no doubt they had cameras rigged in the ceilings.

I leaned against the stone wall and hugged my knees to me. As much as I hated being a prisoner and spied on, the rush of Knox holding me and kissing me lingered. So much so that if he glanced at me, I’d probably strip naked and mount him.

Shit. What the hell was wrong with me? He was an alien. First one I’d ever kissed. I shook my head, but not the first I’d ever had a crush on, just never acted on my impulses before.

There were strict rules back home on being with an extra-terrestrial. So I never pushed and honestly had never been attracted or tempted by an alien. Had they spiked our food with some type of sexual inhibitor?

I squeezed my eyes tight, trying to calm my still racing heart.

Knox’s soft breathing told me he was asleep. His dark feathers covered him and ever so often they trembled.

No way was I going to lay down on this filthy floor. I shuddered from the idea and the coldness seeping into me from the stones.

The Roulex wanted us to mate and get a cheap thrill? Would they sell our offspring or worse? The idea made bile rush into the back of my throat.

A whimpered groan sounded from Knox and I bit my lip. Was he was having a nightmare? I crept forward, lightly touching the edge of his wing, which was softer than velvet.

He jerked upright, staring at me like he didn’t see me.

Oh shit!I scrambled backward, but his hand shot out, grabbing my ankle. I crashed to the floor.

“Knox, stop, wake up!”
