So much for fucking her out of my system. Instead, I fucked her deeper into it, her lust-filled eyes, searing hot touches, and little whimpers of pleasure permanently etched in my memory. I needed a shower last night but didn’t want to wash her scent off my skin, the only real evidence that yesterday actually happened.

Fuck yeah, it happened.I swear I can still feel the ghost of her lips against mine, her fingernails digging into my shoulders as she shattered in my arms.Twice.My hand dips into the waistband of my boxers as my mind floods with the image of her tits bouncing, lips parting, eyes rolling back…

Buzz.

My phone vibrates again, against the floor this time, and my eyes fly open against the harsh light, yanking me out of my fantasy and totally killing my boner.

Groaning, I tug my hand from my boxers and roll over, blindly reaching over the edge of the bed to fish for it. My fingertips skim the cold hardwood before bumping into my phone, curling around the edges and lifting it up. The screen is still lit, notifications staring back at me.

2 Missed Calls -Gray

1 New Message -Gray:Come downstairs

“Fuck,” I growl, tossing the phone onto the bed beside me. I almost forgot about why Vienna and I wound up in the employee bathroom at the lodge, my knuckles now long healed from the beatdown I delivered to the douchebag that grabbed her. Gray got called away before I even made it home yesterday, no doubt to clean up my mess, but I know he’s gonna have something to say about it. There’s no doubt in my mind that it’s the reason he’s here now, forcing me from bed at this ungodly hour.

I take a five-minute shower and pull on a hoodie and a pair of jeans, running a hand through my damp hair as I jog down the stairs. As soon as I reach the bottom and see the five of them standing in my kitchen staring back at me, I know it’s an ambush.

The whole gang’s here- Gray, Theo, Jax, Brock, and Reid; the other Alphas of the six-pack. Well, technically Theo isn’t Alphayet, but from what I hear, his old man is stepping down to induct him on the next full moon. I freeze at the bottom of the stairs, fingers curling tightly around the railing as I stare back at them, eyes pinging between their faces as they all wear the same stoic expression.

“What’s up?” I breathe, releasing the railing and striding toward the guys, trying to appear casual, even though my heart is pounding against my ribs like I just got called into the school principal’s office. I knew Gray wouldn’t be happy about my stunt at the lodge, but for him to call in the other Alphas? He must be more pissed off about it than I thought.

“Heard about what happened at the lodge yesterday,” Reid remarks as I approach, handing me a white paper cup emblazoned with the logo of the fancy-ass coffee shop in Stillwater. “Coffee?”

I stare at his offering dubiously, still waiting for the hammer to drop. “Make it Irish and I’m in.”

Gray frowns disapprovingly, but Jax moves over to the kitchen counter, rifling through a few half-empty bottles until his hand lands on the whiskey. Grinning, he pops the lid off of his own coffee cup, adding some before making his rounds to add a shot to everyone else’s.

“Did he deserve it?” Theo asks, eyes flickering up to mine as Jax tips some whiskey into his cup.

“Fuck yeah he did,” I grumble. My fists clench at the memory.

“That’s not the point,” Gray sighs, shooting Theo a look. “We all know the rules. They’re in place for a reason, and we, of all people, should follow them.” His gaze swings back to me, the muscle in his jaw ticking. “You could’ve killed that guy.”

“Trust me, I wanted to,” I mutter under my breath.

Reid nudges me, his eyes scolding. “Chase.”

“What?” I throw my hands up, turning to Reid. “He was fucking with Vienna, he grabbed her and…” I turn back to Gray, pointing a finger. “You’re the one who told me to look out for her!”

“Don’t think that’s what he meant, bro,” Jax sighs, raising his brows as he hands me a coffee that he just finished splashing whiskey into.

I take it, bringing it to my lips and tipping it back, burning my fucking tongue with the way I try to gulp it down.Should’ve just gone straight for the bottle. When I lower my cup, the other guys are still looking at me expectantly, the tension hanging thick in the air.

“What if it was Serena?” I blurt, eyes locking with Reid’s. “Or Liv? Or Jenna?” I swing my gaze to Jax, his eyes darkening at the mention of his little sister. “I look out for those girls, too. Would you have wanted me to stand back while some asshole fucking tourist pulledthemon his lap?”

Just the thought of that guy’s hands on Vienna has my wolf rearing forward, clawing at my insides.

“What’s done is done,” Brock growls, running a hand through his long hair. The dude looks just like Aquaman, ever-present frown and all. “It can’t happen again.”

“I know,” I mutter, staring down at the black lid of the cup in my hands as I grit my teeth and shove my wolf down.

Reid sighs, stepping closer and clapping a hand on my shoulder. “We aren’t here to come down on you about it. I’m sure you know you fucked up. We just realized that in light of this incident, maybe we haven’t been rallying around you like we should. Giving you the support that you need, considering everything that’s happened over the last few months.”

“So what is this, group therapy?” I scoff, taking another sip of the too-hot coffee. At least Jax didn’t skimp on the whiskey he added to it.

“Of course not. Can’t drink in therapy.” Jax tips his own cup to me as he brings it to his lips, winking.

“Too bad,” Theo chuckles. “Would probably get more people to go.”
