“No,” Chase answers for me, reaching in front of my chest to snatch the joint from Levi’s fingers. He tips his head toward me as he speaks to Levi. “Lightweight, remember?”

I glare at Chase, irritation prickling up my spine as he brings the joint to his lips and inhales deeply. “Fuck you, I can handle myself,” I mutter, watching as he blows out the smoke and takes another hit. I didn’t even want any, but now I’m hellbent on proving a point. As Chase reaches in front of me to hand the joint back to Levi, I pluck it from his fingers, bringing it to my mouth and inhaling.

Chase’s eyes go dark as he watches me. “Didn’t know you smoke.”

I don’t.

I try to hold the smoke in my lungs, but they burn, making me sputter and cough. “Sometimes,” I choke, handing the joint off to Levi before it singes my fingers.

He takes it with a chuckle, rubbing the top of my back with his other hand. “You alright?”

My throat’s raw, so I just nod my head.

Levi puffs on the joint, crooking a finger to beckon me closer. I’m not even sure what he’s doing until he leans in, sliding a finger under my chin and moving his lips right in front of mine. Oh.He’s offering me a shotgun.I part my lips as he blows the smoke past them, inhaling it deeply into my lungs. It’s less harsh to receive it this way and I manage to hold it in for a few moments without even coughing, turning to exhale the cloud.

Out of the corner of my eye, I catch Chase’s glare. His eyes are so dark they’re almost black, in tune with my every movement. Gone is the arrogant, smug expression, replaced by something cold and distant.

I melt backwards into the couch as the marijuana seeps into my system, making me lightheaded and giggly. Levi leans in close and starts telling me some story about Miles and the girl he’s dancing with, but my brain is so foggy that it barely registers. Everything around me seems to move in slow motion. Cal’s hand is on Nessa’s thigh. Chase’s is resting on the couch between us, his fist clenching and unclenching. Levi’s is on my shoulder, his thumb rubbing little circles on my skin. The thump of the music rings in my ears and I can feel the vibration of the bass beat on the floor underneath my feet.

“What do you think?” Levi asks, and I turn to him, blinking, his words pulling me from the fog.

“Huh?”

His lips spread into a smile, two rows of straight white teeth on display. “You wanna go somewhere quieter?” he asks, eyes dropping down my body.

Do I?

My eyes shift to Chase, but it looks like he’s zoned out, head buried in the dark hood of his sweatshirt.

“Sure,” I say hesitantly, allowing Levi to take my hand and pull me up from the couch. I feel like I’m floating as he leads me away, down a dark hallway, opening the door to a room. It’s dim inside, lit only by a small lamp on the dresser. There’s a large bed with pristine white linens, and when I hear the door snick closed behind me, I sober up fast.

Levi tugs me by the hand toward the bed as my mind races. I like Levi, but do I actually want to hook up with him? I’m not sure I can go through with this. As if he can read my thoughts, he steps in front of me, cupping my face in his hands.

“You alright?”

I fight the bile rising in my throat. “Yeah, I’m…”

I hear the door opening and Levi’s eyes lift over my shoulder, a smirk creasing his lips. “Hey, what took you so long?”

I spin around, breath catching when I see Chase’s huge frame standing in the doorway. My pulse thunders, heart slamming against my ribs.Is this a setup?

“Whaddya say, Vee?” Levi murmurs as he moves in closer behind me, brushing my hair off my neck. I feel his warm breath fan my skin as he leans down, his lips hovering beside my ear. “You want both of us? I’m down if you are.”

Chase steps into the room, kicking the door closed behind him before he stalks forward, crossing the distance with a predatory gleam in his eye.

I can’t think, can’t breathe- not with Levi pressed against my back and Chase crowding me from the front, staring down at me like I’m his next meal. He slides a finger underneath my chin, tipping my face upwards. “Is that what you want?” he asks, arching a dark brow.

There’s a menace in his eyes that I haven’t seen before, a gleam of something sinister that almost scares me.

“Doyou?” I challenge, glaring up at him as I feel Levi’s arm snake around my waist, the bulge in his pants pressing insistently into my lower back as my body threatens to recoil from his contact.

I’m playing a dangerous game here, one I’m not sure either of us can win. A sigh escapes my lips as Levi’s arm pulls me in tighter, pushing the air from my lungs. My head falls back on his shoulder, eyes still locked with Chase’s.

Chase wets his lips with his tongue as his hand slides down to wrap around my throat. One tight squeeze and he could snuff me out, but I’m not afraid of the large man in front of me. It’s the one behind me that makes me nervous, so willing to offer me up to his buddy like I’m a side dish to be passed around.

How far is Chase willing to let this go? Do I even want to stick around to find out?

“Hey Levi?” Chase growls, dark eyes darting down to the arm around my waist as the muscle in his jaw ticks.
