If this is the end, I’m not going down without a fight. I practically pounce on her, grabbing her face with both hands and stamping my mouth down over hers. She makes a surprised little ‘umph’ sound when our lips connect, then her eyes slide closed, her body relaxing into mine. I kiss her like I fucking mean it- all lips and tongues and teeth. Like it’s the last thing I’ll ever do.

When I finally pull away, she looks a little dazed, blinking at me as I swipe the pad of my thumb across her lower lip. “Hi,” I rasp, staring into those pretty hazel eyes.

Quinn drags in a breath, then releases it with a chuckle as she covers my hands with hers. “Damn, that was a hell of a greeting.”

“I aim to please.” I lower my hands from her face, coasting them down either side of her body to rest upon her hips. “Now did you really want to talk about something, or were you just looking for an excuse to get my hands on you again?”

She loops her arms around my neck, a smirk playing across her lips. “I don’t need to invent an excuse for that,” she teases, angling her hips toward me.

So far, so good, I think to myself as relief creeps in… but then the cute little smirk slowly fades from her face. She slides her hands down to my shoulders, stiffening as her lips draw into a frown. “We do need to talk though,” she grinds out.

Damn. Guess we aren’t out of the woods yet.My heart is pounding so hard inside my chest that I wonder if she can hear it. I try to form words, but my mouth runs dry.

“What happened this morning can’t happen again,” Quinn continues, her gaze fluttering downwards. “It was way too close.”

I swallow past the lump in my throat, giving her a curt nod in agreement.Where is she going with this?

“If we’re going to keep doing this, we need to set some ground rules.”

A wave of relief washes over me and I blow out a breath I didn’t even realize I was holding. She had me at ‘we’re going to keep doing this’. I don’t care what conditions she sets, as long as this isn’t the end.

I steady my expression so as to not give too much away, narrowing my eyes and arching a brow. “What kind of rules?”

Quinn runs her palms over my broad pecs, meeting my eyes again. “Well, for starters, no more sleepovers. They’re too risky.”

“Agreed. I almost pissed myself this morning on my mad dash back to my room.”

She laughs, and damn I love the way her laugh sounds. I love even more that I’m the lucky fucker who coaxed that delightful sound from her lips- my wolf sits up and preens.

“What else?” I ask, sliding my hands up under her sweatshirt to feel the heat of her skin against my palms. I don’t miss the way she leans into my touch, or the little ‘mmm’ sound she makes as my hands roam her abdomen before settling on her waist.

“We keep this purely physical,” she continues, sliding her own hands down to dip under my t-shirt, tracing my six-pack abs with her fingertips. “No complications, no girlfriend or boyfriend responsibilities, just fun.”

It’s getting harder to focus, with her hands on me and my hands on her. “I’m fine with that. As long as we’re only sleeping with each other.”

Quinn’s eyebrows shoot up. “Want me all to yourself, huh?” she teases.

Yes.

“I don’t share.”

She slowly nods. “Okay, deal.”

I can’t help but crack a self-satisfied smile knowing that as long as we keep this thing going, she’sall mine. This ‘talk’ is going so much better than expected.

“And when this stops being fun for either one of us, we have to agree that we’ll call it,” Quinn adds. “And whoever calls it, the other has to respect that decision.”

“Of course,” I nod. “And can we also agree to stop with the suggestive commentary in front of your brother?”

Quinn lets out another laugh, warming me from the inside. “Aw, that’s so fun, though!”

I shoot her a stern look, arching a brow, and she heaves a sigh.

“Fine, I’ll try to keep those comments to myself.”

I grin, running my hands up her sides and around front to cup her boobs through her bra. “Anything else?” I grumble, staring at her pouty lips, ready to occupy my mouth with something other than talking.

“Yeah,” she breathes, and I bring my gaze up, locking eyes with her. “Make sure you don’t fall in love with me, Jaxon.”
