What is this really about? I cling to the thought of being used. Diego’s overstepping, even if he’s right. From under my lashes, I lift my gaze to Bane.
His expression hardens. But there’s something else there too. Longing. Desire. It matches the chaotic mix churning inside me.
Are we going to rally against Diego with pitchforks or do something more dangerous… like give in to our growing bond?
Diego turns to me, his voice softening. “I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but I think we could make this work. We wouldn’t be the only throuple in town.”
Throuple? My gaze shifts to Diego. Is he serious? He wants the three of us to… I stop the fantasy that begs to play out. None of my friends had a kid already when they got into their relationships.
Yet, I’m speechless. Intrigued. Apprehensive. A thousand thoughts race through my mind, each one more confusing than the last. I look at Bane, trying to gauge his reaction. He’s silent, his expression unreadable.
He turns to me. Our eyes lock. It’s the same look he had right before we kissed. Heat races through me.
“What do you think, Bane?” Diego breaks the silence.
Bane lifts his eyebrows almost imperceptibly. Is he asking me if it’s okay? My knees go weak. My heart skips beats, then rushes to make up for them. Bane would really consider this? I could have the security that not one man, but two men offer? Am I worthy of that?
“Avery?” Bane’s voice is barely above a whisper.
“I… but… um…” The difficult life as a single mom might not be my only path. The jealousy I’ve felt for what my friends have could be cast aside.
“If you’re opposed to a threesome, we’ll never speak of it again,” Bane says.
Never is such a long time. Could we both learn something from Diego here and stop putting barriers around ourselves?
Bane’s lips press together, he lowers his head, and his shoulder slump. “Her silence speaks volumes. Don’t fuck this up, Diego. Avery’s my nanny. Leave it at that.”
My heart leaps into my throat. I gurgle out a few incoherent objections before calming myself enough to be worthy of what they’re proposing.
“Wait. I don’t object. I just can’t believe… We should talk—”
Diego puts a finger to his lips. “Shhh… Talking’s overrated.”
Bane’s eyes widen, surprise flickering across his face. “Don’t let him pressure you, Avery. Ineedyou as my nanny. No one’s ever been so good with Evie.” He pauses, struggling with a thought. Does he worry that I could think that means I’m better than her mother?
He stops my thought, clarifying his struggle. “But Iwantyou in ways I haven’t wanted a woman in a long time.”
Diego rounds the island and caresses his hand down my arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake. His voice is a low hum that vibrates through me. “You know, Bane,” he says, his eyes locked onto mine, “I think Avery’s been working too hard. She needs to relax.”
I swallow hard, my heart pounding in my chest. He means to do this right now?
“She’s been so tense.” Diego steps behind me, his hands knead my shoulders and his thumbs work the base of my neck.
My eyes fall shut. A soft sigh escapes, my body melting under his touch.
Diego chuckles. “Imagine how good the two of us could make her feel.”
The weight of Bane’s gaze pulls me back to the moment—the next step. Desire radiates from him. It’s intoxicating being the center of their attention.
Diego leans in, his breath hot on my ear. “Any requests?” He lowers his hands to my breasts, massaging as he pulls my body against his. The hard length of his erection pressing into my backside tells me we’re not going to wade into this pool.
“Tell me you haven’t dreamed about her milky tits, Bane. There’s not a part of her that doesn’t tastelike heaven.”
Bane grips the island. This is a big step for him. Too big? Can he add another layer to his relationship with Diego? Should Bane and I explore this alone first?
I open my mouth to ask but a tweak to my nipples makes me gasp instead.
Diego’s hands trail to my waist and he spins me, then sits me on the counter. His lips find mine, his kiss slow and deep. I lose myself in it.
