“Your dads got kicked out of the Army because they sleptwith the wrong person,” Kala pointed out quietly. She stood up and slid hercell into her pocket. “Our parents are human. Don’t ever tell him I said thisbut my father is the greatest man I know, and he’s fucked up things onmonumental levels. Don’t put them on pedestals, Tris. Don’t put anyone on apedestal because it hurts so fucking much when they inevitably fall off. And Ithank my dad for telling me all the ways he screwed up because he made it okayfor me to screw up. Somehow I don’t think any of your parents told you theycould only love you if you were perfect, if you never made a mistake. That’swhat’s wrong with all three of you motherfuckers. You had it easy. Now it’shard. You either love each other and you’re willing to risk it all again, oryou’re over and then guys, get ready to know what it means to be fucking alonebecause what you had was epic. You’re never going to find it again. But hey, Iknow a dude at a shelter. Dogs and cats are great companions, and when theyfuck up, well, it can get messy but not as messy as this. Since you ruined ourviewing pleasure, I think I will head down to the bar. It’s too hard to watchyou disintegrate.”

“I knew they hadn’t meant to leave the Army when they did,”Tris said quietly. “They didn’t hide it from me. I still think they’re heroes.”

“I didn’t know about how rough it was when my parents met,but I still think they’re the best love story I know.” Carys sniffled. “I don’tknow what to do. I’m angry and I’m not sure how to not be angry anymore.”

“You don’t have to,” Aidan assured her. “You can be as angryas you want. You can kick us out of bed. You can call us names. What you can’tdo is keep walking away when we’re so desperate to have you stay. Unless it’struly over, and then you should put us out of our misery.”

Carys turned as the outer door shut and locked and they werealone. “I don’t know what I want. Not true. I do, but we don’t have a timemachine. We can’t go back and stop Tris from leaving us.”

“No, and I can’t promise I won’t make another mistake in thefuture, though I can promise I won’t leave you again. I’ll leave the job if Ithink it’s too dangerous. I promise to put you first,” Tris vowed.

Tris was pushing her too hard. Aidan got into her space.“You don’t have to decide anything tonight. I know what you’re thinking. Youhave to make a decision whether we get married and start a family, but wedon’t.”

Tris nodded, seeming to figure out what Aidan was saying.“You don’t have to decide at all. All you have to decide tonight is whether ornot we’re welcome in your bed. We planned a future. I screwed it up. It’s notyour responsibility to get us back on track. This isn’t an either-or ultimatum. There’s no ultimatum at all. I know what Aidan said, but if you feel the needto string me along, I’ll take it. I’ll do whatever you need me to.”

“And if what I need is you to go away?” Carys asked.

Tristan took a long breath. “Do you need me to go?”

“I don’t know. I just don’t, and I can’t give you atimeline,” she admitted.

The air had changed. It was still charged, but there was adistinctly sexual aspect to what was between them now. “You don’t need to giveus a schedule. And I won’t let anyone push us about the wedding. We’re on ourown timeline. I can move back into the house with Coop if you need space.”

A suspicious shine hit Carys’s eyes. “I don’t want to decidethat either.”

Tris moved to her side, allowing Aidan the other so theycould surround her. “All you need to think about is tonight. What do you wantme to order for us? Do you want to watch a movie?”

“What if I want you to kiss me and make me forgeteverything?”

That he could do.

ChapterFourteen

Tristan felt his whole body go hard when she asked them tomake her forget everything.

Time. It was the only real way to prove to Carys he was withthem forever now. He had to stay close, had to be with her.

Pleasure wouldn’t prove anything to her, but it definitelycouldn’t hurt.

He watched as Aidan took her mouth in a slow, devouringkiss.

“Do you have any idea how much I love to watch the two ofyou?” Tristan asked. It occurred to him he should give her every option. “Ifyou want, I can just watch. If you’re too angry with me, I can be patient.”

It would be awful, but he couldn’t force the situation. He’dput too much on both of them.

Did his screw up truly mean he wasn’t salvageable? Kala’swords were running through his head. Even earlier he’d been wondering if hedeserved them, if his sins hadn’t caused an unfixable breach.

“I love you, Carys. I love Aidan, too. I want anotherchance, but I’ll understand,” he said.

She sighed even as Aidan was working his lips down her neck.“Stop, Tris. Be my Dom tonight. We’ll figure the rest out later. All I know iswhat I need tonight, and it’s the two of you.”

The words sent a surge of hope through his heart. It sent asurge of arousal through his cock.

If she was giving him tonight, he was going to take it, makeit so good she gave him tomorrow, too. And the next day, and the next. Theywould string together the days and nights until it wasn’t a thought in her headthere wouldn’t be another.

Even as Aidan started working on the shirt she wore, Trisleaned over and took her mouth, melding them together. She softened for him,and he allowed his tongue to surge inside, rubbing and playing against hers. Hesank his fingers into the silk of her hair and tugged her head back, lettinghis tongue plunge deeper. Her blouse was tugged free.

He let his hand roam down, cupping her breast through herbra. It wasn’t enough.
