“Oh, come on,” Amelia said. “We both know hands down no one has an ass to match Zylar’s. I love how it sits high, and it’s tight. God, it’s like an apple I want to bite.”

“You care about him,” Delsa laughed.

“Maybe.”

“Oh no, you do. I can see it in your eyes. All you’re doing is denying the inevitable.”

“How many women to men?” She couldn’t get over the fact that the Tan-ge loved to kill women.

“Five men to every female. Then it got worse as the women married into other races.” Amelia nodded. She could feel it in Delsa’s emotions. She was desperate for the men of her planet to find females to mate with.

“If earth women can love the Diza, then they can love the Novarin. Zylar is coming. I’ll see you when you come back.” She was gone before Amelia could say goodbye. Delsa moved fast to be so small.

“Are you ready?” Zylar asked as he made his way to the front of the cockpit. He did his preflight check. Amelia took a seat beside him, thinking about how things had changed since she last sat in that seat.

“Zylar, remember, no matter what you hear, the real woman was the one you were with on your ship.” He leaned over and kissed her and then they were off.

If only she didn’t have to go back. The closer they got to Earth, the stronger the message was. She didn’t hear it in her head, but she heard it on multiple frequencies.

‘Amelia, you can run, but you can’t hide. I will kill you.’

Chapter Seventeen

Amelia started shaking and her eyes rolled up into her head. Zylar threw the shuttle into an orbital rotation that would keep them safe and away from the pull of the Earth.

“Amelia!” He undid the straps and moved her back to the passenger section of the shuttle. He shook her, desperation moving through his body.

“Calm down,” he muttered to himself. Deep, slow breaths came from him as he laid Amelia down to check her over. A light glowed from his hands as he moved them over her, starting with her feet. When he got to her head, the white light coming from his hands turned black. His healing light turned around, trying to attack him.

The sudden attack sent him flying across the shuttle into the wall. Zylar closed his hands as his body shook. White light crawled over him until it got to his hands, fighting against the blackness trying to overtake his body. Zylar rolled back and forth as the fight between his healing power and the evil black power that came from a very strong Tan-ge grew stronger.

He arched in the air as he was thrown again. His white light surged up to put out the dark gray evil light. The gray light rallied, knocking the white light back.

Shit, hell, damnation, and then Zylar threw a few Diza curses in there to make sure he had all of his bases covered. He’d never had a problem fighting and defeating a Tang-ge even one this strong. This nameless male was using the connection he had with Amelia against Zylar, making him stronger. He was draining Amelia and using her as a battery to defeat Zylar.

He had to stop that now.

It took all his coordination and strength to flip to his back. His hands were all but useless for this intense battle going on for his life or for who would control him. Using his feet, he scooted himself back to where Amelia was lying on the floor. When he was close enough to focus, he realized she was dying. Her heart was slowing down as his sped up in panic. His emotions of fear of her dying and that he wouldn’t get to her in time were bleeding into the room. There was also anger that, after all the Tan-ge had done, there was no remorse in them. They attacked the mates that the goddess had given the Diza as if they wanted to destroy any remnant of the Diza in the universe.

Faster, he needed to get to his mate at this very minute. It took strength he didn’t have to spare to lift his trembling arm and place his hand covered with the gray miasma of evil in Amelia’s hand.

That’s when he felt it. The evil darkness had battered the thin shields Amelia raised until they were torn apart, leaving a gaping wound in her emotional core. It was using that to drain his mate and kill Zylar.

His eyes closed. He wasn’t into pain as punishment, but his mate was too far gone to talk to. If he did nothing, they both died. There would come a day…” He shoved his thoughts of revenge and the ultimate showdown away. He’d plot that later.

Now he had a mate to save.

He placed his hands flat against the floor, forcing more of the evil grayness up his arms while pushing himself to sit. He would never treat his mate like she was unloved. Zylar pulled her onto his lap regretful that he had to touch her with hands polluted with the grayness of darkness, but there was no other way.

His fingers fumbled as he lifted his mate’s miniskirt. This was why human males loved them. Easy access. The round brown globes of his mate’s ass lay before him in perfect symmetry, but they weren’t vibrant it looked like every sign of life was being pulled out of her.

He traced her thong before he smacked her ass. The grayness covering his hands got darker, taking on a looming presence that sent a shard of fear through him. He smacked her again on the ass. This time it was harder. She’d be red before he was done with her.

“Come back to me, mate. It will take both of us to defeat this brex’nar (bastard).”

He spanked her repeatedly, desperation fueling his movements when she lay still as if she were dead. He raised his hand but stopped as a moan of distress came from her lips.

“Amelia!” He leaned over her, pressing his chest to her back. “Don’t talk, my little lotus flower. I need you to concentrate on the sound of my voice and do what I tell you.” He cast around for a way to instruct her when she was awake to understand.
