His lips tasted like cinnamon, which paired well with the honey on mine.

His hand traced down my leg and pulled my knee to my chest.

He barely hesitated a moment before filling me again.

My fingers tangled in the sheets as I took in all of him.

My eyes rose to the intricately carved ceiling depicting something like the heavens.

As Kaine plunged in and out of me so slowly that it was damn near torturous—sweet torture—I was having a hard time believing that there was a heaven better than this one.

I lost myself in him once more, finding that I never wanted to find my way out.

Outside of our moment together, there was a whole world I was terrified to face.

There was the Fae King and his diabolical plan. There was Nikolai. And there was even Yenisey. Oh, and there was the very fate of the Forest of Sorrows.

All of that awaited me outside, and I wasn’t ready for it.

I wanted to steel away a few more moments with Kaine before confronting the intimidating yet undeniable truths outside of this room—this haven of bliss.

His hand caressed the soft skin of my breast, and my chest was on fire.

My stomach knotted with pleasure, begging him for more.

“Tell me how you feel.” His voice deepened as he whispered in my ear.

My lips trembled as they parted, releasing a nervous giggle. “That’s too embarrassing.”

He gripped my chin with his thumb and pointer finger, forcing me to face him. “Tell me or I’ll stop.” His eyes were heavy with a dark desire. “Do you want me to stop?”

When I replied with a jerky shake of my head, a devious smile spread across his face that reminded me of when I’d first met him, and he bore his teeth at me.

“Then tell me.” He loomed over me, dominant and triumphant.

I focused on the tensing of my muscles and the way my body sang for him. “It feels … amazing.”

His eyes flashed with delight as he dragged his tongue across his bottom lip. “That’s my good girl.”

He gripped my legs firmly, pushing himself into me as deep as my body would allow.

Stars flashed before my eyes.

My mind fell away from everything else as my body began tensing.

I focused back on Kaine, who was watching me with a wanton weariness in his eyes.

He uttered the words that sent me over the edge, “I love you.”

Now, I was floating among the stars.

Nothing in the mortal realm could touch me.

“Kaine!” I cried out his name just as the tension left my body all at once.

Rivers of pleasure washed over me, renewing me once more.

Being with Kaine like this felt different than it did before.
