My hips moved faster, delving deeper, feeling her drip with ecstasy.

She ran her fingers through her hair and looked up at me with glistening eyes before arching her back.

Her body went stiff right before she cried out my name.

Her muscles tightened around me as she gave way to the pleasure.

Just the sight of her was enough to drag me over the edge as well.

I felt my body flood with fire and ice as I came. I let out a grunt and crumbled over, leaning on my elbows for support. I spoke through heaving breaths, “You were supposed to wait until I allowed you to finish.”

She laughed immediately, “What in the heavens did you expect me to do?”

“Be good,” I growled, bringing my face to hers.

She kissed my lips and quickly moved away with a devilish smirk. “I’d rather be punished.”

“That can be arranged.”

SOPHIA

The following day, I awoke and was delightfully sore. I sat up out of bed, finding the light far more bright than it normally looked.

For the first time in a long time, everything felt right with the world.

The only issue?

Kaine was already gone from the bed.

I didn't realize I had slept in, but after last night I needed it.

All the blood rushed to my face, and I slapped my hands over it to conceal the joyful embarrassment that overtook it.

I quickly got up out of bed and got dressed by myself. I was excited to see Kaine, but according to the maids, he was out for the day.

Never mind that then. Perhaps I'll go see how the library expansion is going!

I knew that the books were for a very serious purpose, but I couldn't help being excited all the same.

I’d just about read all the books in that library already, but now I had a whole new group of books to rip into. I opened the door to the Library, and a rush of light, as well as the smell of old glue and parchment, flourished around me.

“There you are!” Sharra’s voice shattered the very private moment I was having. “We’ve been waiting ages for you.”

I looked around the Library to see that both Sharra and Lexi were there.

Lexi jumped out of her seat before Sharra could say another word. “Don't worry about it. We knew you’d get here eventually. We figured you must have had a long night with Kaine.” She raised her eyebrows at me before grabbing my shoulders and shaking me about.

I couldn't help the blood rushing to my face again, and she couldn't help the squeal that came from her at seeing it.

“See! What did I tell you, Sharra? She was kept very busy last night.” Lexi kept her grip on my shoulders as she jumped up and down in place.

“How did you guys know I would be here this morning?” I knew that the Library was my go-to, but goodness, what if I had gone to the kitchen this morning?

They would have been waiting half a day here for me to arrive.

“We heard that the King was going out on official business, so we figured you were going to come to your second favorite place.” Sharra was much more nonchalant about the situation than Lexi was.
