As he pinned her down, he brushed his lips against hers. At first, it was as if he were hesitating. But when she grabbed the back of his neck and hauled him closer, he relaxed into the kiss. She wrapped her legs around his waist, needing him even closer. If this was going to be their one and only time to have each other, she was going to take him exactly how she wanted.
All of a sudden a low, keening noise in the back of her mind threw her off–it was her wolf, whining gently. She wasn’t used to her new companion yet. Once she’d shifted, her wolf had hid and she hadn’t heard nor felt her since.
Ryker must have felt her stiffen. He broke the kiss and reared his head back to look at her. With a tilt of his head and a furrowed brow he asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I think I heard her.”
“Your wolf?”
She nodded.
He gave her a crooked grin. “Yes, it takes a while to get used to. They like to tell you how they feel about certain things. At first, it will feel weird–as if your mind is no longer your own but remember that your wolf is still you, just a different version that is a little more animalistic and simpler in some ways.”
“I haven’t heard her since I shifted back.”
“You’ll soon be best friends.”
He dipped down again, gently placing kisses up her jaw before moving his lips to her ear. One of her hands went to his hair, the other down the back of his shirt and when her nails raked his skin, she pulled a low hum from deep in his chest. She closed her eyes and soaked up his caresses as his kisses progressed down her neck. Every touch of his lips was like little embers on her skin that spread a wildfire of arousal through her veins.
“What you two went through yesterday isn’t normal,” he murmured. “Yes, a shift will hurt depending on how close Isis is, but never as excruciating as you felt yesterday.”
“Mhm…”
She was barely able to listen as she ran her hand up his spine, his skin smooth under her fingertips. He took her breath away when he let his teeth scrape over the lower part of her neck, where he would have marked her. Her wolf whimpered so loud that he could hear it. She let out a soft cry without even knowing it.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered against her skin, pressing a soft kiss to the spot. “I won’t tease you again.”
He shifted his weight so she could feel his hard erection press against her core. Though she’d never been with a man, it felt natural. There was no insecurity, no questions of his motives. The strengthening bond gave them both a deeply rooted trust.
His hand pushed under her shirt, making her wolf hum and her core throb. His mere touch made her skin tingle and her heart pound her ribcage. She leaned her head back, soaking in his caresses. She slipped her other hand under his shirt and pushed it up. His lips broke away from her skin as he rose onto his knees.
She eagerly watched as he reached behind to his neck and pulled his shirt over his head. As she’d suspected, he was built bulky with strong arms and a toned stomach. She splayed her hands across the soft skin and pushed higher, trying to memorize every inch of him. He impatiently tugged on the hem of her shirt, eyes boring down on her. With an amused giggle she pulled it over her head and revealed her bra, but once his eyes narrowed in disapproval she lost that too.
His body stiffened and his eyes shot up to hers. “I want you, but we don’t have to do this.”
“I’ll gladly pay the price.”
He inhaled deeply before he pulled something out of his pocket. A little confused, she looked down and saw a sleeve of condoms.
“Oh…”
“I don’t want you to pay a higher price than you have to.”
Kendra found herself speechless, only able to respond in a nod. He set them aside and trailed his finger down her sternum, sliding between her breasts.
“Have you ever been with anyone?”
“No.”
“I’ll be gentle,” he promised, fingers dancing over her stomach and to the waistband of her leggings.
Lifting her hips, she allowed him to tug the fabric down. He scooted back and pulled them over her knees and ankles before tossing them aside. He did the same with her panties and despite being completely naked before him, she didn’t feel the slightest bit exposed.
“You too.”
He chuckled, his eyes sparking with amusement. “So demanding.”
“Sorry.”
