“I’ll get the warm water bottle ready.”
A few minutes later, she walked out onto the porch where she was greeted by Blake’s massive wolf wagging his tail.
Spreading her arms, she walked toward him. “Come here my fluffy puppy.”
‘Let’s get you settled, then he wants you all to himself.’
“Yes, please.”
He stepped back and revealed a nest of pillows. He laid down so the nest was between his front paws. Leaning against his chest, she wrapped herself in the blankets and nuzzled her face into his fur.
Feeling the bond, she slowly felt his wolf take over and Blake slowly disappear. His wolf started to hum and turned his head toward her stomach. He sniffed and licked her, his chest vibrating more and more. Closing her eyes, she started caressing his ears and leaned into the bond. He was anxious but also excited and so, so proud of her.
She wasn’t sure when or even how but she dozed off.
‘Beautiful?’
She cuddled closer to him, not ready to wake up yet.
‘Let’s get you inside and some food in your growling stomach.’
“No, I want more wolf cuddles,” she mumbled.
‘You can have more later but you need to eat,’ Blake chuckled.
“Fine…”
She opened her eyes and saw the afternoon sun closing in on the mountains. Holding on to Blake, she pulled herself to her knees.
“No more sitting on the floor. I think this will be the last time I’ll be able to get up,” she laughed.
Trying to ignore Blake’s shift and the pain that came with it, she walked inside. Blake followed her and returned the pillows and blanket to where they belonged before joining her in the kitchen.
Brothers
They cuddled on the couch while they waited for everyone to come back. After about thirty minutes, a knock on the door made them both look up. To Blake’s surprise only Seth walked inside.
“That’s a warm welcome. I thought you two would be happy to see me,” Seth chuckled and sat on an armchair.
Niev gave him an apologetic smile. “We are, I just thought you would bring the whole crew.”
“They sent me to check on you and tell you that they are preparing dinner for all of us right now. They’ll bring it over once it’s done since you have the bigger home.”
“Am I a horrible person for feeling relieved?” Niev asked, her mind filled with guilt.
“Gosh no!” Seth blurted out. “I’m glad I could escape them. I mean I love them all, but I’ve had my fair share today.”
He made Niev laugh, which Blake appreciated. Blake always enjoyed how well they got along, especially considering the horrific start they had at the beginning.
“How have you two settled in?”
“Good. It’s been a huge adjustment. I basically had no real responsibilities before we came here and now it’s overwhelming at times,” Blake admitted.
Seth seemed slightly concerned. “Have you talked to Alpha Raymond about it?”
“Yes, we speak openly about these things. Though he tries, he sometimes has a hard time letting go of certain things too.”
“But it’s good that you two talk about it. Father and I always try to do the same. Honesty is key, especially for you both. I think a father and son have a certain natural trust that you and Alpha Raymond have yet to establish.”
