Beckett held up a hand and she immediately missed the contact with hers. “I’m not going to pressure them to hire you. I’ll just give a recommendation. You’ll have to win them over. Though I have no doubt of your ability to do so, based on personal experience.”

A weight felt lifted from her shoulders. Finding a few clients would allow her to start bringing in her own income and feeling like she wasn’t completely dependent on Beckett. She could have flexibility and it would be nice to have something that didn’t center around Becka to do. She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Beckett’s cheek, very close to his mouth. Immediately, her body felt aware again of his proximity.

“Thank you, Beckett,” she whispered against his cheek. His lips were so close. If he would just turn …

Instead, Beckett pulled away enough that he could meet her eyes. “Would you like to have dinner with my family Saturday? My brother and his wife live in Garden Oaks. My father is coming as well. They’d love to meet you and Becka.”

“Are you kidding? I’d love to. You said they have kids, right? Becka will get to meet her cousins?”

“Yep—Selena and Logan. They’re a little older, but they’ll love Becka.”

“It’s hard not to love her.” Madi smiled up at him.

“You’re right, of course.” Beckett’s gaze smoldered. “But she’s not the only one it’s hard not to love.”

Love. His words sent her heart spinning off into giddy joy. It would be too early to say “I love you,” but that was close. Madi realized that even if it should be too soon, it didn’t feel that way. She should feel terrified by the speed of everything, but she didn’t. Instead, Madi found that she couldn’t think of a future without this man in it.
