“Chase, all I need from you are my car keys; you can leave them in Ariel’s mailbox tomorrow morning,” I say as I extricate myself from his embrace. “Since we don’t have kids, there’s no further need for us to keep in touch. See you in court.”

Then I go toward the apartment door Ariel has left open for me and close it behind me with a coldness that surprises me.

But this is the new me.

From now on I will be a bitch.

Yes, sir!

Chapter 10

Chase

Six years ago

What had I done to deserve this amazing woman?

My head was spinning so fast I was dizzy, drunk on the way her body felt against mine, silky soft and warm.

This feeling was way better than surfing inside the barrel of a wave.

I was stoked.

My body was utterly spent, yet at the same time, I craved more.

Our breathing synced as we lay together. We were as one.

Magic filled the room.

A spell had been cast over us.

But… I was pretty sure once the sun started peeking through the windows, one of her brothers or maybe her father would be making an appearance. No matter, I wasn’t going to be deterred, but decided it’d be better to get her out of here and away from her interfering, overprotective family.

Because I wanted to know this woman. To really know her. In private with no interruptions. Just being ourselves.

I wanted to go public with her as well, for the world to know about us.

Chase and Rose. I loved the sound of that.

I could feel her stirring, raising her head and smiling before placing her warm lips on my bare chest.

“Rose.” My voice came out as a gravelly mix of sleepiness and desire. “Come back to my place with me.”

Her dark hair was a messy mass of waves cascading over her face and shoulders, making her resemble a fierce goddess.

“Come back to my place so we can really get to know each other,” I pleaded.

Come on, doll, come with me. And after that, cum for me too. The invitation was crystal clear.

“Can’t we just stay here?” As she turned her gaze on me, the dim light sneaking through the windows was enough to see the way her golden eyes were shining. Shining for me, like twin suns. My favorite stars. “I want to be lazy today. Just sleep in and grab some breakfast when we feel like it.”

That did sound good, but I was all too aware that our time alone time was running out and our sanctuary would shortly be invaded.

“Fine, but who do you think will be here first to break down your door? Your father or one of your brothers?”

My hands were gently stroking her soft back, so I felt her stiffen before she replied. “Are you saying you don’t want to meet my father, Holland? Have to say I’m a bit offended.” Her reply was playful, but still.

“Of course I want to meet your father at some point, Doll. But first I’d like to get to know you better, to have you to myself for a while. Just indulge me, give me this weekend.”
