“What’s wrong with my phone?” I frowned, as I floated in a pink haze of love.

She rummaged in her handbag to retrieve the handheld computer she called a cell phone. A couple of seconds later she’d unlocked the screen and now some icons flashed.

“Tomorrow we’re going to the store to buy you one like mine. Then, every evening when you get back from your new office, you can touch this little icon here. You and I are going to discover the wonders of FaceTime sex.”

I had no idea what FaceTime was, but the idea of virtual sex sounded very attractive.

“Are you going to be naked every time I call you?”

The mischief flared in those beautiful sun colored eyes.

“Maybe. And I’m going to get some toys for us.”

Since I didn’t think she was talking about the rag doll kind of toy, she’d started a game that I was happy to play.

“Exactly what kind of toys did you have in mind?” I asked, my eyes following a path from her mouth to her neck, where I could see her pulse beating rapidly as my gaze searched out those hardened nipples that were already peeking under the fabric of her dress.

“Adult toys.”

Fuck. Suddenly my pants were too tight.

“Roselynn, you’ve just convinced me to say yes.” In more ways than one.

I was a lucky bastard and I knew it.

My father’s words popped into my head again.

Had I thought about proposing any time soon?

Hell yes!

A girl like her was one in a billion and I wasn’t going to let her go.

Ever.

Chapter 19

Rose

Present day

Since I moved in and invaded Ariel’s place, we’ve worked out some routines. Saturdays, she cooks most of the day, while I do laundry, organize our clothes and tidy up the apartment.

“This is going to be zucchini week,” she declares in a cheerful voice.

Every week, Ariel cooks using a different theme. So far we’ve had cabbage, beet, and cauliflower week. This girl is like a magician in the kitchen, everything she cooks or bakes is delicious, even if she’s using only the simplest ingredients.

“I have an appointment at the bank tomorrow,” she comments nonchalantly, even though I know she’s really worried about it. “So I need to put together my business plan.”

“I can help if you want,” I offer.

She continues with her task of washing the veggies, ignoring me as ever.

“Thanks, but I think I’ve got it covered. I’ve been preparing for this like forever, Rosie, so don’t worry. You’ll see, success is just around the corner.”

Ariel is pretty forthright about most things, but when it comes to her private affairs, she’s very reserved, hardly ever mentioning anything about her past, so I’m not surprised she doesn’t explain further.

“Everything is going to be okay,” I try to reassure her. “The sun always rises no matter what, don’t forget that, Ariel.”
