The last day we can live in our little fantasy and pretend the rest of the world doesn’t exist.
The last day I can pretend a man like Aiden Montgomery could be all mine.
I don’t want to ruin our final day.
“Romy?” Veronica pulls me out of my thoughts.
“Sorry, I’m here—just a little overwhelmed, I guess. No, you don’t have to email them. I’ll just look at them when I get home.”
“Okay. Can’t wait to hear all about your trip.”
We say our goodbyes, and I hang up the phone before wondering exactly how much I’ll tell Veronica when I get home. Yes, she’s my best friend, but this secret seems like it would be so much more special if it stayed between Aiden and I.
Maybe it should just stay a secret. Although I’ve been entertaining the idea of continuing this—whatever it is that we have—now, it seems like a horrible idea.
Sure, maybe it would be great for a while, but how often do you hear about a relationship between a boss and an assistant working out?
This isn’t some Sandra Bullock Rom-Com.
And who always gets screwed in the equation? The assistant.
And I can’t afford to lose my job—especially now that I’m probably going to have a big, fat bill from an attorney.
That’s a whole other issue that I have no idea how to handle.
I could always tell Aiden and get his opinion. Maybe even ask for his help.
No. I’ve been doing it on my own for this long. I’m not about to stop now.
But to continue taking care of myself, I need to keep my job. And to do that, I need to keep things with my boss strictly professional.
After today, that is.
Last night, Aiden and I decided to play hookey from the conference one last time and spend the day together. I don’t know what he has planned, but I do know that I don’t want to ruin our time together with all of my drama.
I decide to take a shower to try to clear my mind for the day ahead.
When I step under the hot water, I let it roll over my skin, picturing my worries going down the drain with the run-off.
I have no idea how long I’m standing there when I hear the shower door open.
I don’t have to look back to know that it’s Aiden. His presence is demanding enough to be felt.
Well, that…and he has a key.
His large arms wrap around me, and I lean back into him. In his arms might be the safest I’ve ever felt.
“Hey, baby,” he whispers, pulling me tighter. His beard tickles my neck and cheek as he talks.
“Hey, Boss Man,” I reply with a smile. “Didn’t you already take a shower this morning?”
“Maybe.” He kisses my cheek. “But I couldn’t resist when you’re in here all alone—and all wet and soapy.”
“So, instead of coming in the shower to get clean, you came in to get dirty?”
He laughs, and I feel his cock twitch against my backside. “Well, I think you and I already concluded that maybe shower sex isn't the best idea, but I figured I could tease you enough to make you horny when we get out.”
“You know it won’t take very much convincing.”
