Chapter 28 – Tyler
Our hotel room was still only illuminated by the candles and the fireplace. The warm glow bounced off Sam’s naked body as she crossed the room. She was a goddess, and she didn’t even know it.
After grabbing the champagne and strawberries, I stepped down into the bubbling water of the hot tub.
Sam was riffling through her purse for something, and when she found whatever it was, she concealed it in her hands and walked over to join me.
“What’s that?” I asked nodding to her hand.
“My final surprise of the night.”
“What is it?”
“Well, I mean it’s not that big of a deal. It’s not even really that much of a surprise. It’s just…”
“Kansas,” I interrupted her rambling. “Show me.”
In her hand was her driver’s license. Not knowing what the big deal was, I took it from her to examine it closer.
Nothing looked too out of the ordinary except…
“Kansas, you changed your address? To my address?”
She shrugged. “Well, I guess it’s kind of our address now. Thought maybe I’d stick around for a while. If you don’t mind, maybe the move could be a permanent thing…maybe it’ll show you that I’m not going anywhere…I’m done running.”
Making sure to toss her license out of the water, I grabbed her and pulled her onto my lap.
“Thank you. I absolutely love it, but license or no license, I wasn’t letting you go anywhere. I worked too damn hard to get you. I’m not about to lose you now.”
She smiled and pressed the sweetest kiss to my lips.
I leaned back, “But you have to answer me one thing.”
She simply nodded.
“How did you afford all this?”
She shrugged. “Before I left Kansas, I’d gotten a credit card to bring with me to school. Never used it before last night. The bank kind of told me to use it or lose it, so I figured what could one night of fun hurt?”
Her gesture was sweet, amazing in fact, but I felt horrible. I didn’t want her to go into debt trying to make a perfect night, but I wasn’t going to destroy this perfect night by saying that either.
This time, my kiss was filled with passion as I leaned her close to me…secretly vowing to pay her credit card bill once we got home.
