Chapter 19 – Tyler

The next day, I had one final Christmas surprise for Sam, but I needed to get her out of the house for a bit to pull it off. So, I suggested we take Mason for a walk around the neighborhood to kill some time.

Surprisingly, the weather wasn’t awful for December in Boston, so we threw on a couple of light jackets and Mason’s harness and headed out.

We were a few blocks away when Sam said, “Hey Trust Fund, why is there a large man in all black following us?”

Unease hit me as I remembered I hadn’t yet told her about her new security detail. Uncomfortably, I shoved my hands in my pockets and looked around trying to act like what I was about to say was no big deal.

“His name is Gabe. I hired him to keep you safe when you leave the house.”

Stopping dead in her tracks, she whipped her head around glaring at me. “You did what?”

“Well, I know I can’t be with you wherever you go, so that’s what Gabe comes in,” I shrugged.

“And just when were you planning on telling me about Gabe?” Disdain dripped from every pointed word.

“Well, I wasn’t sure. Can you blame me? I was trying to avoid this super pleasant conversation.”

The minute the sarcastic words flew out of my mouth, I regretted them.

Rage consumed her little body. “So, you knew I’d be pissed, yet you did it anyway?!”

Shit. Here we go.

“Look, I did it for your own protection.”

“After everything I told you last night about not derailing my life and letting him win, you do this? Unbelievable.”

She picked up Mason and began trekking back towards the house.

“Where are you going?”

“Home. Don’t really want to look at you right now.”

Gabe stopped walking and let her pass. As she slipped by him, her eyes darted up to his, piercing through them with the same anger she had with me.

When he looked at me, I mouthed the words ‘I’m sorry’ knowing he’d have his work cut out for him. She’d probably spend most of her time running or hiding from him.

I followed her back to the house keeping a safe distance back to avoid her wrath. I just hoped the surprise waiting there would cool her off a little.

When she got to the front door, she halted realizing she’d left her keys inside.

As I unlocked the door, her verbal tongue lashing continued. “You think you can just make decisions about me without even talking to me first? You think you can decide how to live my life? You can’t. I’m not one of those bimbos you can bring to their knees with your smile. I don’t care how good your dick is!”

Her last word hung in the air as the door swung open revealing her dad and brothers.

“Hi, Daddy,” she smiled the weakest of smiles.

“Hey John,” I said, patting him on the shoulder as I walked by heading into the office.

Sam was already pissed, and now her dad probably was too at the thought of me fucking his daughter. So, I decided to leave them all alone and go get some work done.
