He told me he would have the agent get ahold of me and let me know a time.
Once we hung up, Tyler immediately started in, “I’m just going to cancel dinner.”
I shook my head. “No, you’re not. Go. You said yourself that if your dad wanted to meet for dinner, it must be important. I’ll be fine.”
We argued about it for a few minutes before he finally gave in with the caveat that Gabe would come over to keep an eye on the house.
“Fine, but he waits outside,” I responded.
Honestly, I had no idea what would come of this meeting, and I didn’t know how deep into James and my past this agent would want to go, so I didn’t think there needed to be an audience.
A few minutes later, my phone buzzed with another text from a number I didn’t recognize, but this one said:
Hi, this is Agent Adler. Will you be available this evening around 8 o’clock for me to stop by?
I promptly responded yes and gave him the address, even though I assumed he already had it.
Now, I waited…silently praying that we could finally get some closure.
