Chapter 34- Tyler
A week had passed since we’d gone back to school and resumed our normal busy schedules. Although I missed our lazy days spent doing nothing, I couldn’t help but be in awe of my woman. The way she jugged school, tutoring, and homework amazed me. And to top it all off, she still managed to squeeze time in with me every night.
That Saturday, I’d convinced her to attend an event with me, a gala for a children’s hospital. I tended to avoid these events since Marisol and I parted ways, but this one, I made an exception for.
“Why does this mean so much to you?” Sam asked from the bathroom while she was getting ready.
“When Jacinda’s daughter was little, she got really sick and had to be hospitalized for a couple of months.”
She poked her head out. “Come again?”
“Little Ava. She had a heart defect and ended up needing quite a few surgeries. This hospital took wonderful care of her, and now, she’s a normal healthy kid.”
“That’s awesome.”
“Yeah, it is. When she got out of the hospital, my family made a very generous donation. The hospital was so grateful they waved almost all of Ava’s medical bills. We give a donation every year that goes into a grant fund. The money is used to help families who can’t afford treatments they need.”
When she exited the bathroom, my jaw dropped. Her hair was down and loosely curled. She wore a touch of smoky eye makeup that made her green eyes pop even more than normal.
And that dress.
That dress had me coming apart with a single glance. It was black and sleek, clinging to every curve she had. It hugged her so well, it was almost like an extension of petite frame.
It wasn’t extremely low cut, but as she spun around, I saw her exposed back, the material dipping all the way down her tailbone. And on one side, there was a thigh-high slit showing off her gorgeous legs.
She strutted over to me, standing a little taller thanks to her strappy stilettos.
She leaned in for a soft kiss. “You’re a pretty wonderful man, Tyler Wendell.”
I noticed around her neck was the necklace I had got her before we had gone to see my parents for the first time. It was a small diamond just enough to stand out against her soft skin. She didn’t wear it often, but every time she did, it looked stunning on her.
“And you’re a very sexy woman, Sam Flemming.”
She bit her lip. “So, I look okay? I feel stupid with this thing on.” She looked down at the cast on her arm.
“Don’t worry about that. You look amazing. Breathtaking.” I guided her hand to the bulge in my tuxedo pants.
She gave me firm squeeze before letting go. “None of that, Trust Fund. We have a party to get to.”
With that, she turned on her heel and headed out of the room. And I was right behind…following that luscious ass.
We took a limo to get there since one doesn’t usually show up to these things in their own car. Sam was cracking me up the entire ride because she was so amazed by everything inside the plush vehicle.
She pressed every button and checked out every tiny cabinet while uttering, “So fancy…” after almost everything she touched.
It was nice seeing her slightly excited about my wealth rather than appalled by it.
I didn’t give two shits about anything in that limo except for her. I wanted to lay her down on those leather seats and make her scream my name, but worrying, I might mess up her hair or stain her black dress, I decided to hold back.
When we arrived at the gala, I helped her out of the car and led her up the stairs of the large building. Sam’s apprehension was noticeable as she took a couple long, deep breaths to try to calm herself down.
Laying my hand on the small of her back, I tried to put her at ease. I knew fancy parties weren’t exactly her thing, but I appreciated her effort. And I’d make sure I put in the same effort, guaranteeing her night was one to remember.
As we strolled into the giant ballroom, she took notice of everyone around us. Just looking at her, you’d never know she didn’t belong…until you saw her face. She looked like a scared gazelle walking into the lion’s den.
I brought my mouth to her ear and whispered, “You look gorgeous, baby.”
Whether or not she believed me, a slight smile crossed her lips.
