“I’m taking you to your bed. It’s been a long day, and you need sleep.”
I didn’t argue. He was right; I was exhausted, and sleep sounded magical. He laid me down in my new plush bed and wrapped the blankets around me. Wishing me goodnight, he kissed my forehead and headed out of the room.
I couldn’t help but think that maybe this situation wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Chapter 8 – Tyler
It had been a week since Sam moved in, and I couldn’t believe how well things were going. Every day, I learned a little more about her.
I learned that around the house, she was constantly trying to help out. My housekeeper, Jacinda, still came in and cleaned six days a week, but Sam was adamant about helping out. She constantly felt like she wasn’t contributing enough.
She would sit around and watch movies with me every single night after making sure that all her studying was done for the day. I had never met a more self-disciplined person in my life.
She had the manners of a saint, but the mouth of a sailor. Hearing the foul cuss words fly out of her mouth as she stubbed her toe on the coffee table cracked me up every time.
Despite how tiny she was, Sam could eat more than I could. She was constantly hungry and wanting to snack on anything and everything in the house. I’m glad I offered her the food already in the house. I feared she would go broke trying to feed herself.
She was still extremely closed off…not wanting to talk about anything too personal, but I still tried whenever I could…even though she would always change the subject.
Her sense of humor was somehow dark yet whimsical, and her laugh and smile filled me with pure joy.
Things like make-up, fancy clothes, and manicured nails meant nothing to her. Instead, she loved good movies, reading anything she could get her hands on, and a nice cold beer at the end of a long day.
She was reeling me in without even trying. I found myself wanting to spend all my free time with her, and I genuinely looked forward to the couple hours we got to spend with each other every evening.
Having her around was heaven, but it was hell not being able to touch her whenever I wanted. Some nights, I just wanted to pin her up against the wall and fuck her until she screamed my name.
It didn’t help that she usually padded around the house in a tank top and some tiny shorts. Every time I would catch a glimpse of her ample ass sticking out the bottom of those tiny shorts, I had to try my best not to get hard.
My mind wondered what it would be like to kiss her…really kiss her…show her how a woman should be kissed. Give her all the passion and desire I could.
But I wasn’t going to push her. I wasn’t going to suggest anything that might make her stay here uncomfortable in any way. So I would let her come to me.
And dear God, I hoped that she would.
One rainy Saturday, I was headed out to grab a coffee with one of my sisters. She was in town for the weekend and insisted that we get together to catch up.
Tess and I had grown up extremely close, and she was probably the closest thing I had to a confidant. But I wasn’t quite sure that I wanted to tell her about Sam yet; the onslaught of questions sure to follow sounded exhausting.
When I got to the coffee shop to meet Tess, she wasn’t there yet. Go figure. She was always late.
I grabbed our usual orders and headed to a corner table. Thankfully, she only kept me waiting about five minutes before flying through the door like a whirlwind.
That was Tess. She was an absolute force of nature. When she walked into a room, her presence demanded to be felt.
She was only a year older than I was, so growing up, we were best friends. Despite her being older, I was overly protective of her which was fueled by her terrible taste in men.
“Baby brother!” She yelled the second she saw me.
No matter how many times I asked her to stop calling me that, I knew she never would.
“Hey, sis,” I said standing up to give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
We exchanged a few pleasantries, and I gave her shit for being late as she simply waved her hands brushing me off.
Finally, she looked at me with her big brown eyes and said, “So, is there anything you want to tell me?”
The look in her eyes said she already knew about Sam so there was no point in trying to hide it. But how?
