"You got to come quick, wahine. We're going to be late."

Ana thrashed her head back and forth. The slick sound of her arousal was loud in the room. Makoa could do this all day. Her legs clamped shut and her whole body shuddered.

"I love you too," she whispered against his mouth.

Chapter Eleven

Ana couldn't help beaming at Makoa. He looked so handsome standing up next to his friend, Hani while they waited for the bride. Once they finally got on the beach where the ceremony was going to take place, there hadn't been any time for introductions, just one last lingering kiss before Hani literally dragged him away. She might still have a goofy grin on her face.

"So, Ana what do you do for a living?" Amelia asked, coming up next to her with another woman.

"I'm Joely," the strawberry blond said, holding out her hand. "We've been dying to meet you."

She shook Joely's hand. "That's so sweet. Thank you. I'm an actress," Ana said, answering Amelia's questions.

“I’m the general manager and Joely is the head of housekeeping,” Amelia said.

"How did you meet Makoa?" Joely asked and snagged glasses of champagne for all of them from a passing waiter.

"He saved my life," Ana said.

"What?" Both Joely and Amelia leaned in while Ana recounted the first day they met.

"It's been a whirlwind ever since. I've been so busy with my rehearsals that we've only seen each other a few times, but I think this could be it for me. I know it's too soon, but he makes me happy. I've never felt this way before."

"He's a real sweetheart," Joely said. "He gives with all his heart. I'm glad to see you're falling for him. He deserves some happiness."

"What show are you working on?"

"Well, you have to promise to keep it a secret. The producer is a stickler that our identities remain mysterious. I'm in the Merry Mermaids. It's a play based on the Greek muses, if they were mermaids and swam around in tanks. I'm Eros." Ana touched the seashell necklace that she made. “Don, that’s my boss, wants the kids to believe that mermaids are real.”

"I heard about that show. It's in Lahaina." Amelia clapped her hands.

"We had a surprise soft opening last week, so in between shows, baking cookies—don't ask—, signing autographs and doing meet and greets, it's been hell. The only reason I'm here at all is because my understudy is taking my place in the show tonight. I told her not to get used to it, but I'm thrilled for the day off."

"Oh," Joely said. "That makes sense. He's been driving us crazy with mermaid movies."
