“I swear to God…no other food has ever been so good. What have they put into this? Crack?”
I chuckled as I took another bite of my taco. “Most likely. God, this is truly the best.”
“You know when this food would hit even harder?” she asked, keeping her eyes on the road.
“After a night out?”
“God, yes! Can you imagine? Now I just want to get drunk to eat this food with alcohol in my body.”
“We’ll do that next weekend,” I told her.
As much as I loved watching the guys’ shows, I felt like a little change would be good. I missed going out and dance with Willa. Though, I wasn’t so sure they guys would let me go so easily.
Not because they didn’t trust me, but I knew they still had Vivian on the back of their minds, worried that she could somehow find and hurt me like she had tried to do many times before.
Chapter 32
KLINE
“Will you finally tell me where we’re going?” Lola wouldn’t stop asking, and throughout drive, I had to make sure Watson wouldn’t spoil the surprise. It had been a mistake letting Watson drive with us. Ben and Leo would’ve been better at keeping the surprise secret.
“You’ll see once we’re there. Just a few more minutes,” I assured her.
She sighed and turned to face me. I made Watson sit in the back, wanting Lola to have a nice view once we got there.
“You made me get up at six-thirty. We’ve been driving for over an hour, and I don’t like surprises.”
“Too damn bad,” I murmured, smirking as she rolled her eyes at me. “You’ll start smiling again once you see what we’ll do today.”
“Just let me tell her,” Watson argued.
I glared at him through the rearview mirror. “No.”
“You can tell me,” Lola told him, turning even more in her seat to look at him.
“Look ahead. We’re here.” I reached over to make her look out front. She fought me at first, but once she was seated normally again, she gasped at the view in front of us.
“Holy shit.”
“Told you it would be worth it.”
We drove out of the woods and were welcomed by a beautiful view over the lake which was surrounded by large mountains and small towns all around the lakeside.
I slowed down so she could take it all in, and I kept looking at her, pleased with her surprised expression. I placed my hand on her thigh and squeezed gently. “This is where we’re going.”
“We’re spending the weekend here?”
“We sure are. In that village down there,” I told her, pointing to the colorful houses down by the lake.
“And that’s not even the best part,” Watson added.
“Oh wow…this is amazing! I’m sorry for being a pain in the ass but this is perfect. It’s so pretty. Thank you!” Lola leaned over to kiss my jaw, and I patted her thigh gently, letting her know that I wasn’t upset with her.
“It will be even prettier once we’re down there.” I continued to drive down the mountain until we got to the house we would stay in, and as we parked, Leo and Bennett stopped next to us.
We got out, and we watched Lola take in everything around her. She couldn’t stop smiling. “I didn’t even know this place existed. God, it’s so pretty. Have you guys been here before?”
“We have. That’s ours,” Leo told her, pointing at the light-blue house.
