Fine.

I didn’t want to argue.

“Okay. Are you hungry?”

He nodded. “A little.”

“Good. Because I’m cooking tonight, and I really hope you’ll eat what I make.”

“You’re cooking? How did you convince Leo to let you cook?” Ben said with a grin.

“She didn’t have to convince me. She simply told me that she wanted to cook, and so I’ll let her. No way I’ll argue with this woman,” Leo stated, grinning from ear to ear.

I laughed softly and got back up. “If you keep saying things like that, you’ll make me believe that I’m some kind of royalty.”

Leo looked at me and blinked, his eyes wide. “You are. You’re a damn queen. No, you’re Goddess.”

“Stop crawling up her ass, man. You’ll scare her away,” Ben argued, sounding annoyed but amused.

There was no way I would run from them.

I had no reason to, and I’d be stupid if I ever tried.

It sounded ridiculous, seeing as it hadn’t been too long since I first met them, but I had found my home.

My men.

Chapter 27

BENNETT

Kline and Watson had come back home to have dinner with us before they all left again to get to the bar. I wouldn’t say it out loud, but her cooking was just as good at Leo’s. If not better. But I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, so I kept it to myself.

Once they were gone, Lola ordered me to sit down on the couch with a cup of tea while she cleaned the kitchen.

I didn’t like having her do all of it alone, but she insisted that because she was the one to cook, she also had to clean up after herself.

I kept my eyes on her at all times, not wanting to miss a moment of her. Even in comfortable lounge clothes she looked like the most beautiful woman ever, and though I loved her hair open and falling over her shoulders and back, I was enjoying the view of her exposed neck and collarbones with her hair pulled back into a low bun.

She looked up from the sink and smiled when she noticed me watching her. “Everything okay?”

“Everything’s perfect. I wish you’d let me help you.”

Lola chuckled, shaking her head at me. “I don’t need your help. I’ll be done soon anyway. Are you drinking your tea?”

She was so damn caring. “I sure am.”

“Good. I’m almost done here.”

“Lola?”

“Yes?”

“You know you don’t have to do all that. You’re still a guest here.”

She stopped cleaning and looked at me with gentle eyes. A smile spread on her lips, and she shrugged before saying, “I don’t feel like a guest. I kinda feel at home. And so I will clean after myself.”

It was then when I realized that she truly was special. It had been clear to me before, but in that moment, it actually hit me.
