They reacted with a laughing emoji to my text, and I went and added another message.
Me
Just let me know when and I’ll come by. Can I bring dessert this time?
Watson
Normally, no. But we’ll make an exception.
Fair enough.
I just didn’t want to show up empty-handed. And what they didn’t know was the fact that I was a good baker too. Nothing would compare to Leo’s chocolate cake from last night, but I did make the best blueberry-lemon cake.
Me
Great. I have to go back to work but I’ll text you guys when I’m home.
Have a good day!
I stayed in the bean bag for a moment before getting up and heading back to my office where I prepared for the afternoon. Although I was busy with making sure the lawyers in one of the rooms had everything they needed, the day went by fast.
After work, I went to the grocery store first to get the ingredients I needed for the cake I wanted to make. I had my headphones on, and I strolled through the store, occasionally adding things to my basket.
I felt a tap on my shoulder as I stood in front of the eggs, and when I turned around, a woman was standing there with a smile on her face. She pointed at her ears, requesting for me to take off my headphones.
After I did, I smiled back at her. “Yes?”
“I don’t mean to bother you but I’ve watched you for a while and I just wanted to say that I think you’re really pretty.”
I was used to people telling me that, but no one had ever stopped in public to tell me.
“Oh, thank you. That’s really sweet of you.”
“Of course. I thought, why not brighten up someone’s day, you know? Are you a baker?” the woman asked, pointing at my basket filled with baking ingredients.
I laughed softly. “Occasionally. Not professionally.”
“I see. Well, whatever you’re going to make, I bet it will be delicious. Again, sorry for bothering you. I’ll let you continue with your shopping now.”
The woman didn’t wait for me to say goodbye. She just turned around and left, and I needed a moment to get my head back to where it was before she tapped my shoulder.
I put my headphones back on and moved on from that somewhat strange yet empowering encounter.
I was focused on making that blueberry-lemon cake for tomorrow, and I wanted to get back to texting the guys. That was my plan for tonight, and nothing had seemed more exciting in a long while.
Chapter 17
LOLA
Work always went by fast when I had something to look forward to in the evening. Today, it was yet another date with my men.
My men…that just sounded silly. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted that to be their title. I wanted them to be mine, and deep down, I had already set my mind to making that happen.
I wasn’t one to give up, but I was impatient at times, and waiting for the sparks to get bigger, and for the fire between them and me to fully ignite wasn’t easy. I would pull through though, and make sure that I wouldn’t get annoyed if it took a little more time.
It’s been a wonderful night so far. When I first arrived at their apartment, they welcomed me with yet another bouquet of flowers, which they had placed in a pretty vase. Next to it there was a card which they told me not to open until I was back home. It drove me crazy not knowing what they had written inside, but I managed to keep my eyes off the card and to fight the urge to open it.
Leo had once again cooked an amazing dinner. This time, he made hand-made ravioli with ricotta and spinach filling, and with an incredibly tasty lemon sauce. I couldn’t stop complimenting his cooking, and after almost every bite, I had to tell him just how delicious the food was.
