“Benson,” Kline said, looking at all of us before pushing another piece of steak into his mouth. He chewed, then swallowed, then he continued to tell us what he found out about Lola. “She’s his friend, so she’ll be around often. He’s throwing another party on Saturday.”
“And we don’t have a show that night. Did you get us invited to the party?” Leo asked.
“I did,” Kline replied, shooting him a glare. “And you’ll behave.”
“Wait a second…you wanna go to that guys’ party? We’re too damn old for a home party,” Bennett argued.
“But we’re his neighbors, and if we get invited to a party, we join. Out of kindness and…to be neighborly.”
I pursed my lips, amused by Kline’s statement. “I agree. We have to go. Besides, we won’t be there for the party.”
“That’s for sure. Damn, she’s all I think about. And the way she said her name still echoes in my head. I can’t be the only one here…she definitely sparked something in me.”
I looked at Leo, and while he sounded like a crazed man, I felt the exact same. “I can’t remember a time a woman had ever made me feel so eager to see her again. I want to get to know her.”
“We won’t be able to do that all at the same time. To be honest…I think we have to let her choose which one of us she wants to get to know,” Bennett said. “Unless…”
“Unless she’s interested in all of us. Which, in my eyes, seemed like she was,” Kline said.
“Yeah, for sure,” Leo chimed in. “She looked like a woman that can handle all four of us. I wouldn’t mind sharing.”
“Me neither,” I told them with a shrug.
Kline and Bennett looked at each other.
“I don’t have a problem with that if you don’t,” Kline told him, and Bennett shook his head.
“I’m fine with that. Still, we shouldn’t pressure or force her. What if we’re just being delusional? Maybe she didn’t really flirt with us. Maybe she’s not interested in us that way.”
Bennett had always been the most rational one. Any situation we were in, he was always the first to evaluate every little thing. To be fair, it was a smart thing to do, and he often made things easier for us.
“Ben’s right. Let’s just go to that party and see how things unfold. In the end, it will always be up to her if she wants to approach us or not.”
We all agreed with Kline, and soon after ending that conversation, we started a new one about our dance routine.
Chapter 7
LOLA
Willa and I had no idea what to wear to a strip show. We weren’t sure what was appropriate, but we figured that since we were watching men undress in a sexy way, we were allowed to wear something sexy too.
While Willa wore a tight dress with heels, I decided on a mini skirt and a pretty top, completing the outfit with my favorite high heeled boots.
We kept our makeup light and natural, and I straightened my hair after curling Willa’s blonde hair.
We decided to Uber to The Hot Spot. It was a ten minute drive, and we couldn’t be bothered to walk all that way. Like we did last weekend to get to Benson’s party. We were too exhausted from working all week, and our feet just needed a break from standing and walking.
After getting out of the car, we checked ourselves in the tinted windows, adjusting our hair and clothes before we were ready to head into the bar.
“Ready?” I asked, looking over at her as she touched up her lipstick.
“Readier than ever. I wanna see some abs!”
I laughed as I hooked my arm around hers, and guided her to the entrance of The Hot Spot.
“Did you bring your ID?” I asked her as we walked down a narrow, dark corridor. There was a double door further down, with a pink neon sign above it.
“Yes, I did. I’m more prepared for tonight than I had ever been for any exam I ever had to take.”
