CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Miles

She bites her lip, a playful smirk curling across her face.

“Come on,” she teases, pulling me toward the makeshift dance floor.

We weave through the crowd, laughter and chatter swirling around us.

My heart races as we find our spot, the world fading away.

Her hands slide onto my shoulders, fingers digging in just enough to send shivers down my spine.

“Not so bad, huh?” she says, tilting her head slightly.

“Could be worse.” I step closer, letting her warmth seep into me. “I’m not much of a dancer.”

She sways, the rhythm taking over. “Just follow my lead.”

I mirror her movements, trying to keep up with her grace.

The way she moves—fluid, confident—makes it hard to look away.

I forget the noise surrounding us, lost in her.

“See? You’re doing great,” she whispers, leaning in just enough for me to catch the sweet scent of her hair.

I keep my voice low, staring deep into her eyes.“Yeah, well, it’s easy when I got a good partner.”

She laughs softly, and it feels like a secret shared between us. “You know you make me feel alive again.”

I slide my hand to her waist, feeling the heat radiate off her. “Well, I’m glad.”

We sway together, bodies brushing, hearts racing.

I lean in, resting my forehead against hers. “You’re incredible, you know that?”

Her smile is bright, but there’s a spark of something deeper. “Flattery will get you everywhere.”

I can’t help but grin back at her. “Good to know.”

Our surroundings blur, everything else dissolving into the background.

It’s just us, the music, and the pulse of the night.

The moment stretches, thick with unspoken words.

“Can I tell you something?” she murmurs, her breath warm against my cheek.

I shift, searching her eyes. “You can tell me anything,”

She licks her lips, “I want more than this.”

My pulse quickens. “More? What do you mean?”

“Yeah. More of...us.”

Her lips brush mine—a feather-light touch that ignites something primal within me.
