“I don’t get you Riley. I let you work at some bougie firm where your boss clearly wants to fuck you. I tolerate you being gone for weeks at a time, giving you the space you need,” he uses his fingers to put air quotes around “space” as he spits it out.

“But you still have no fucking respect for me!” He’s practically spitting out his words. “I’m done waiting Riley. You either move back in,” he leans into my face, pushing me into the counter. “Or you’re done.”

“Do you mean we’re done?” I whisper, my eyes widening.

“I mean what I said.”

I slide away from him, grab my things and walk out the door. That did not go at all like I planned.

Chapter 30

Sebastian

It’s been a week and I’ve been doing everything in my power to try to avoid the beautiful intern working for me. She doesn’t want me and I have to get over the obsession. But she sure is making it hard. Every time I turn around she’s waiting at my beck and call.

“Good morning Mr. Bolt, anything I can do for you?”

“Mr. Bolt, I went over the Stark case.”

“Mr. Bolt.” I hear her over and over in my head. It’s almost comical how much of a 180 she has turned. She went from actively avoiding me to almost purposely seeking me out. If I didn’t know any better, I would think she was doing it on purpose.

“I’ll let you know when I need you Riley,” I grit my teeth when she walks into my office for the third time this morning. She looks visibly disappointed, but quickly masks it with a smile.

“Yes Sir, I'll be right out there at my desk.”

She leaves, closing the door behind her.

I get up and walk over to the window watching her walk to her desk like I’ve done so many times before. She sits down and looks up, noticing me watching, and her eyes light up.

“Fuck her” I think to myself, and slam the blinds shut. My ass barely hits the chair when my door opens.

“Riley, I told you I would let you know…”

I’m cut off by Xavier. “Sebastian, have you checked your fucking phone? I’ve been calling you for 10 minutes.”

I start patting my pockets looking for my phone but it’s nowhere to be seen so I look up at him expectantly. Xavier rolls his eyes, pulls his phone out and proceeds to redial mine again. I hear buzzing and lean back against my chair just enough to notice my phone vibrating under my desk.

“What would you do without me?” Xavier chuckles as he closes the door to my office and proceeds to sit in the chair across my desk.

I snatch my phone up from the floor quickly. “Spit it out, Xavier. Why the fuck did you just barrel into my office like a crazed lunatic??”

“Check your phone Sebastian,” Xavier replies casually.

“You’re so goddamn theatrical, " I grumble to myself as I scroll through to my messages from him. Pulling up the attachment, I notice a picture of an article. The article reads “Lock & Key, the city’s newest elite nightclub. Grand opening..”

“Guess who owns that nightclub?” Xavier asks, interrupting my reading.

“I’m gonna take a wild guess and go with Ethan Lockhart. But why do I care about one of his newest nightclub’s grand openings?” I ask.

“Because Sebastian,” Xavier pauses for dramatic effect, “This isn’t just any club, it’s a sex club, and what better way to funnel money than through a sex club!?”

I can’t help the satisfied grin that spreads across my face “Xavier, you are a fucking genius. Get the boys together. Looks like we’re going to combine a little work and pleasure this weekend for that grand opening. Make sure you request whatever VIP they have available. I want to be in the prime position to see everything going on in that goddamn club.”

“It’s already set up," Xavier says as he strolls to my office door and opens it. “7:00 pm Sebastian, it’s a masked event, by the way,” and closes my door before I can reply.

Even fucking better. Ethan Lockhart won’t even know we’re coming for him until it’s too late.
