“Thank fuck for that,” he murmured against my hair before kissing me. “I’m not letting you go, Star. Not for any fucking reason.”

“That’s good, because I wouldn’t let you. My stalkerish ways as a teenager finally paid off,” I joked to try to bring some levity and relieve a bit of tension.

“Damn, who knew you could play the long game so well?”

I shrugged against him. “Doesn’t matter. I knew you’d fall for it eventually.”

“I fell for you, still falling, and Star?”

“Yeah?”

“I never want to stop.”

I’m pretty sure my heart stopped for a minute.

“Who, what, where, when?”

“Davina Perrish.”

“Wait. As in Vina that used to work here?”

“That would be the one,” I agreed.

“Why the fuck you need info on her now? We did a check when she came to work. She was clean.”

“I need to know what she’s been up to since.”

“Again, I’m gonna ask why?”

“Missy encouraged her to pay me a visit and claim that her daughter is mine.”

“Do what the fuck now? Vina has a kid? She never informed the MC.”

“I know. She came to see me at the house a couple days ago. Star and I have been dealing with the potential fallout of that visit.”

“So, she’s claiming it’s your kid?”

“That’s what she said at first because Missy put her up to it, and if the fucking condom malfunctioned at all, it’s still a possibility. If it ain’t me, that kid could belong to anyone who was with her around Halloween, the year before last, when she still worked for us.”

“Son of a bitch. Pretty sure I was with her around then too.”

“Well, we aren’t the only ones, and there’s more.”

“How the fuck can you drop that bomb on me and there’s more?”

“The kid is sick. Cancer. It’s why she came looking, because she needs a donor match for bone marrow or some shit. Star went to get tested to see if she was a match today.”

“Holy fuck! What if the kid is Kip’s? That was during the crazy time when he and Ash were back and forth just before she found out she was pregnant, and they decided to give things a go.”

“Yeah, I’m sure that won’t go over well with Ash because the kids are really fucking close in age.”
