“Yeah, I called family.”

“Next time, you call me.”

“Okay,” was her only answer as she threw her leg over my bike and snuggled into my back. Her arms wrapped tightly around my middle and fuck, but it felt good to have her there.

It didn’t take long to get back to my house, unfortunately. I could have ridden with Star at my back all fucking day. When we finally got off the motorcycle, she stood there taking everything in.

“You live here?”

“It’s mine,” I informed her.

“You own the house?”

“Yep.” She didn’t ask how I managed to own my home, or anything else. Instead, she nodded and started to head to the door, and that was when I got the brilliant idea to ask her to move in with me.

“You know, this is a three-bedroom house.”

“Is that right?” She asked after I opened the door and ushered her inside.

“Yeah. A couple years ago, Breakneck lived here with me as my roommate.”

“Really? That seems like an awful idea.”

I had to laugh because she wasn’t wrong. “There were definitely some challenges.”

“Yeah, I’ve heard about how challenging he can be,” she snickered as the words tumbled from her mouth.

“Fuck, you shouldn’t know anything about what that man does.”

“This is a nice place.” Star’s attempt to change the subject was perfect because I didn’t want her talking about how my club brother fucked.

“Like I said, it has three bedrooms. One is mine, there’s another for storage that I figured I’d turn into an office eventually. The third is just sitting empty since Break moved out.”

“Makes sense.” Her eyes roamed all over the house, checking out the little things that I had displayed. I walked her through the whole house, showing her everything I’d already described.

“Twinkles?”

“Yeah?” I grinned when she answered without throwing a fit about her damn nickname like usual.

“Why don’t you hold off on looking for a house and stay here?”

“I can’t do that,” she argued immediately.

“Why not?”

“Jared, we just started seeing one another.”

“Did we?”

“I thought so,” she muttered, and I wanted to kick myself because it was my fault her words were laced with so much self-doubt.

“I thought we did too, but I’ve barely heard from you in a week.”

Star huffed a sound of frustration. “The phone works both ways, jackass. Plus, you know where I live. It’s not like I could just pop into your place. I’m not really welcome to stop by the clubhouse unexpectedly. I pushed it going to see my dad after finding out about my nephew that day.” She threw her hands up to indicate the house. “And I didn’t even know you had your own home until today.”

“Okay, I put my foot in my own fucking mouth there.” I wasn’t about to tell her that I had gotten used to Missy and the needy way she texted and called all the fucking time. Star was too busy off doing her own shit to worry about what I was doing all day. She also wasn’t normally an insecure person, so there was no need for her to check up and make sure I wasn’t doing something or someone I shouldn’t be. Not that I’d ever cheated on Missy while we were together, but you’d never know from all the times she threw the accusation at me.

“We can’t move in together,” Star tried again.
