“Chocolate raspberry cheesecake,” he breathes, staring at the cheesecake inside like it’s the holy grail. “You remembered.”
“I haven’t forgotten anything about the dating profile that brought us together.” I crawl across the carpeted floor to join Thomas, before drawing my finger through the rich topping of the cheesecake. “You said that this was your only weakness.”
I hold my finger up to Thomas.
His pupils dilate, as he grasps my hand. Then his tongue licks out, and he savors the cheesecake. His eyelashes flutter.
Then he sucks my finger into his mouth for a long moment.
My heart rate speeds up.
Thomas doesn’t look away from me.
At last, he lets go of my finger with a final kiss.
“Apart from you, sweet venom,” he says, softly.
The pure love shining from Thomas’ eyes would be painful, if I didn’t return it with the same intensity.
When I dive to him, he winds his strong arms around my neck. “I can’t wait for Ghost’s heat today. It’s been hell waiting to bond with him. It’s felt like...”
“A part missing from your soul?”
“Exactly, he’s ours. Our pack doesn’t feel complete without his bond. Are you truly going to allow us all to bite him? It breaks every taboo.”
Thomas snorts. “When have I ever shown that I care about that? Ghost wants Lincoln and you to bite him, and I know that you’re both aching to. So, it’s settled. We’re fated mates, the three of us. As three, we should claim our Omega.”
Our Omega.
My fate bond practically purrs at those words.
At the thought of us all bonding with Ghost.
I peer up through my eyelashes at Thomas. “Where’s Link and Ghost now? The Omega Chamber’s ready.”
Thomas strokes my back. “Ghost’s prowling in the garden, trying to keep cool amongst the peacocks. Sugar appears to have made the peacocks her mortal enemies, but Ghost’s decided that they’re his friends. Lincoln is with him like always.”
I’m not surprised that Ghost’s in the garden. Hardly a day has gone by since the festival that Ghost hasn’t explored the gardens or laid out on the grass with Sugar.
He’s blossomed in the sun.
Lincoln has grown closer to Ghost.
“Hmm,” I play with Thomas’ open collar, “at least this bonding will distract Link. He’s been thinking about his past and brother over the last couple of weeks. Finally, finding a pack where he’s happy, has allowed him to realize how fucked up our lives were. He hates that his younger brother was sold to that ballet company. He wants to go in there guns blazing, but Vito is trying to find a safer way for both of them.”
“I’ll do anything that I can to help them both.” Thomas’ expression darkens. “Both Vito and Swan are part of my pack.”
“Is that why you found Vito’s motorcycle and bought it back for him?” I ask, innocently.
Vito discovered Grace, his Harley, with a giant bow on its saddle behind the Dough Knot yesterday.
I wish that I’d been there.
By the hyper phone call that I received, where Vito was talking at sonic speed, while hugging Grace’s saddle and sounding like he was grinning ear to ear, Thomas will forever have received a gold medal on the brother-in-law test.
Only, I know Thomas didn’t do it for that reason.
He genuinely cares for everyone in his pack and treats Vito as his family. I wish that Vito wasn’t alone at the bakery and could have a pack of his own. But Thomas is working hard to look out for my brother too.
