Watching him, I could see why Jones would want him. He was very skilled. He ducked most of Fist’s blows and moved like a smooth wave over the ground. Like a rocket, he lunged from the floor up and hit Fist in the throat. He laid down a hard blow to Fist’s face using his elbow. This was quickly followed by what looked like a round-house kick.
Fist staggered back but found his footing and leaped at the newcomer. They went down with a mighty thumping sound as Fist landed on top of the new fighter. His blows to the man's sides and head were lightning-fast. Yet, it didn’t appear to be doing much, as the man blocked most.
With incredible swiftness, Skull Crusher smacked Fist on the side of the head. The hit echoed through the building, and the onlookers went wild. Fist fell sideways, but before he could even touch the ground, Skull Crusher delivered a deafening blow as he came to his feet.
The crowd went silent for a second as Julie stepped in and checked on Fist. Swinging her arm through the air, she indicated the match was over. Skull Crusher had won.
Jones slapped the man standing next to him on the back as he spoke. “See, I told you,” he spat. Glancing at him, I recognized the wicked look displayed across his face. “I’ll get him on the books, you watch, he will become family tonight!”
I shivered as my body turned to ice. “No,” I screamed at Jones.
He glanced at me, smirking, and walked closer to the ring. I felt stunned, my mouth hung open, but no more words seemed to come out. The last three opponents turned into one as two of the men turned and left. The final fight wasn’t even much of a match. Skull Crusher knocked the guy out in the first round.
Then came the big announcement. Jones shook the man’s hand vigorously and brought him to where I sat. While Jones went to get him from the ring, the guard had untied me with a warning that he was told to shoot if I tried to run.
Once they were standing by my side, Jones made the announcement. “I give you the winner, and as promised,” he said, pointing to me. “This lovely woman is yours.”
There was a slight feeling of relief that it wasn’t one of the regulars. I started planning my escape. I would run away once we were far enough from this place. If I didn’t get that chance, I would do so in the morning hours before he woke. Pleased with myself, I stood and smiled at the man.
“Now then, bring in the priest,” Jones said, grinning at us. “At least she’ll be worth more to you that way, don’t you think,” he added, glaring at the winner.
“Wait, wait, I thought it was only for a night?” the man said.
Fear crept up my spine and entered my mind as I looked at Jones. He was a sinister man with evil plans. For now, I would go along. I knew his plans, but he didn’t know mine.
“No,” the man said, his tone speaking of great authority. “This is not how it’s supposed to be.”
“Well then,” Jones replied. “If you don’t want her, I’m sure others would want her.”
The man looked at me. There was something in his appearance I couldn’t place. Turning back to Jones, he agreed as the priest was ushered towards us.
“Then it’s final,” Jones said, stepping to the side.
The man took my hand and placed it on his forearm, pulling me closer. My mind was foggy. I seemed to be living a dream. I heard the priest talking and Jones and the man. Yet, it felt like I was looking at the events from a distance. I couldn’t even make out what they were saying.
“There you go, Piotr,” Jones stated, shaking the man’s hand again. “She is now all yours, my friend.”
Looking at Piotr as he squeezed my hand, I had the urge to run. But I knew there was nowhere to go at the moment. I would wait for the perfect time.
Chapter 4 - Piotr
I felt shaken by the sudden marriage but knew there was no other way. My protective instincts for her hadn’t changed, and I wanted to keep her safe. My mind was whirling a hundred miles an hour. I wasn’t sure what had happened. I couldn’t explain it even if I tried.
All I knew was that she needed saving, and I needed to get her out as quickly as possible. The urge to beat up the people around us was overwhelming. I didn’t appreciate the way most people were staring at her. She was mine now, and they had no right.
Moving towards the exit, I pushed the people out of our way as I rushed to get out. The looks on their faces were something I’d seen in a pack of scavenger dogs. It made me uncomfortable, but I would continue fighting if that was what it took.
As we were about to enter the corridor leading out, I heard Jones calling out from behind us. “Thanks for taking the dirty wench away from here!” he chuckled and continued. “She’s a useless slut, but maybe you could do something with her!”
Stopping in my tracks, I felt my veins filling with boiling liquid. The volcano within me was about to blow up. Turning slowly, I glared back at Jones. He stood beside the reception desk, smirking. The pain was radiating through all my muscles. But this would not prevent me from taking on the blubber of a man before me.
I felt her soft touch as her fingers closed around my forearm. Alyssa gently pulled on my arm as she leaned closer and whispered. “Let’s just go, please.”
Taking a deep breath, I viewed Jones briefly, turned, and headed out. I had nothing to prove. With a princess on my arm, I felt like I had conquered the world. As we exited the corridor, I concluded that this wasn’t a seamless establishment. It was a problematic place and could never be a good investment for anyone.
Walking my motorbike, I threw my leather jacket over her shoulders. There was a cool breeze coming in from somewhere. Without a second helmet, I couldn’t take her home like this. I took out my phone and called Konstantin.
“Hey Piotr, everything okay?” his calm voice came through the phone.
