She grabbed the rescue tube and whistle. "Poolside. Adult swim doesn't have a required lifeguard on duty. I just need to be here in case anyone needs help."
He followed her into the office. "I'll stay with you."
"You don't have to."
His gaze intensified and he grunted. "I don't have to do anything. I want to."
Relief swept through her. She opened the half door to the office and motioned him to follow her.
"Since I don't have to stand guard, we can sit on the bench and talk while everyone swims." She slipped her hand into his, led him to the wall between the two locker rooms, and sat on the bench.
Once again, Bane came through for her. She could even put up with the many stares aimed her way from the adults in the pool.
Nobody else mattered. She was with Bane.
Chapter Twenty Seven
Bane turned the monitor his way and viewed the sidewalk outside the parts shop to the pool's steps. Going off Daisy's phone call, she had to supervise the high school's swimming practice until four o'clock. Because there wasn't any rec swim scheduled for tonight, she planned to throw down bleach in the locker rooms.
Pool policy required her to stay there while she sterilized the pool house because all the windows in the locker rooms had to remain open until the surfaces dried for approximately a half hour to prevent mold, and then she could go home. While she waited, she planned to swim laps.
He understood the job. Daisy and Liz took turns with the weekly chore on top of doing the daily sanitizing routine.
He chuckled to himself. Since hooking up with Daisy, he knew more about the pool business than before he met her.
For him, Daisy's safety was his top priority.
He'd already checked the windows, which were too high for anyone to climb through. Considering the main door would be locked while she cleaned, Daisy would be safely tucked inside the pool house for two hours.
He tapped the counter and nodded to himself. And with the new camera installed outside the Havlin Motorcycle Parts shop, he could see anyone approaching the pool.
While the city probably wouldn't approve of a camera covering their property, how he protected Daisy wasn't their business. Once he caught the fucker terrorizing her, then they could discuss taking that one camera down.
Jagger set an exhaust kit on the counter. "Last one for that order."
Bane pulled over the part and wrapped it for the box. When he finished, he printed off the shipping label and stuck it on the outside package. It would go out in the morning with the rest of the orders.
