She pulled back, softening her leaving with peppered kisses. "I'm so glad you moved into the duplex."
"Into the duplex and straight into your bed." He kissed her harder.
She laughed against his lips. She loved when he'd say something that took her by surprise.
He could be romantic. When he wanted to be.
"There might've been a few weeks between the two events." She swept back his hair.
"Nah, I was already fucking you in my head in-between."
And there was the Bane everyone else knew.
She laughed, letting her head fall back on his arm. The same could be said for her, but she'd keep that information to herself and surprise him on another day.
Jagger approached the table. She sat on Bane's lap, looping her arms around his neck.
"It might be a good idea to head out." Jagger's gaze went to the other side of the room.
She turned in Bane's arms, and he quickly set her on her feet and stood behind her, but not before she caught sight of one of the Havlin members having sex with a woman on top of the pool table.
She bit down on her lower lip to keep from laughing. While Jagger wouldn't know, Bane certainly knew that she was no prude. She'd had sex with Bane in the city pool, after all.
Chapter Twenty Six
Chad stopped inside the office and sniffed the air. "Do I smell cookies?"
Daisy pointed to the front counter. "Help yourself."
"Sweet." Chad made a beeline for the cookies.
Peeling off her sweatshirt, Daisy grabbed the float tube. She kicked off her shoes and put the whistle in her mouth where it would remain while on duty. Sierra had gotten sick after lunch, and Daisy had taken her place throughout the afternoon, patrolling the pool.
"Leave some of those for Melanie." Daisy laughed without losing her hold on the whistle. "I'm going to take over so she can have her break."
Unable to sleep because the wind and sand kept pelting the side of the duplex through the night, she'd slipped out of Bane's arms and gone to the kitchen to get an early start for work. Hunger had her mixing up a batch of chocolate chip cookies before six o'clock in the morning.
