"Looks like it." He led her into the kitchen. "I called the club. A few of my brothers are going to swing by here. I'll have Cord call the tire shop to see if they have your size tires in stock."

"Wait." She put her hands on his chest. "Slow down for a second. You said someone slashed my tires?"

"Yeah."

"Why would someone do that?" She blew out her breath. "That makes no sense. We were here all weekend. Who would do that to me?" She gasped. "Do you think this has to do with the break-in a few weeks ago?"

"Don't know."

"I need to call the police." She reached behind her for her cell and then realized she already held her phone.

"Wait on that idea." He looked at his phone. "It might be best to let Havlin take care of this."

"Take care of it?" She gawked. "I don't want anyone getting in trouble or hurt. Let the police find out who did it."

"They're not going to do a thing." He looked up from his cell. "Have they found who was responsible for breaking into the duplex?"

She sagged in front of him. Caught up in her relationship with Bane since the break-in, she hadn't even thought about the fact that no one from the police department had contacted her, saying they found the person responsible.

"I've purposely stayed away from people. I'm never anywhere that would get me in trouble." She pressed her fingers against her temples. "Slashing my tires? Breaking in where I live? That's not random, is it? Someone is trying to hurt me. They haven't physically hurt me, but they broke things when they broke in, and now, I have to buy two new tires for the Jeep. That's not cheap."

"We'll find out who did it." He cocked his head. "Riders coming in."

Bane walked to the door and opened the duplex, motioning for those belonging to Havlin to come in. Daisy hugged her middle. It made her sick to think someone was out to cause her trouble.

Liz and her mom were the only people she had invited to the duplex. Tara knew where she lived but had only come inside once to pick up the supplies for one of last year's pool parties. Her circle was small. None of them would hurt her or damage what she owned.

Hating to draw attention to herself, she walked to the other side of the room, letting Bane deal with his motorcycle club brothers. Suddenly, her place was wide open, and new people were around her.

She no longer felt safe in her own home.

It felt a lot like everyone was against her. Someone had violated her privacy by breaking into the duplex. Someone had ruined her tires. She was almost scared to think of what else could happen.

Four bikers walked inside. She recognized Jagger, Rush, Cord, and Dio. She stayed out of their way because they filled the room. Her half of the duplex wasn't big, and the Havlin bikers all seemed above average in size.

"Hey, sweetheart." Dio approached her. "How're you doing?"

"I'm okay." She mustered a smile. "I will be. I've never had something like this happen before. I guess I'm a little freaked out."

"It's normal to be shook." Dio's gaze softened. "But you have Bane. You have the club. We'll take care of you."

As he spoke, she looked at Bane. He was talking to the others but was aware of Dio with her. She sensed he wanted to be at her side but needed to figure out what was happening first. Thankful to have him in her life, she was grateful people were willing to help her. That support was something foreign but welcoming to her.

"Do you want me to call Liz?" Dio whispered, "She seems like the kind of friend who will want to be here if you need her."

Knowing Liz told her that she and Dio were only friends and had a fun time in the pool, she respected Dio more for seeing her friend for what she was—a great person.

"No, I don't want to worry her until I know what is happening." She touched his forearm. "Thanks, though."

Bane's gaze went to her hand on Dio, and he moved away from the others and came to her. She reached out for him, wrapping her arms around his waist, taking comfort from his warmth.

"For now, we'll have someone outside watching the duplex." Bane rubbed her back. "A few of us will also be asking around and doing our own investigation. You have two neighbors on each side. Although they can't see the duplex because of the dunes, they have a view of the road in front."

"What happens if you find out who is responsible?" she asked.

"We'll decide what to do when that happens." Bane kissed the top of her head. "One step at a time."

"I don't want you hurt." She turned toward him and put her back to the others in the room. "I don't want anyone hurt on my account. Promise me that nothing will happen, and if you find out who slashed the tires, call the police."
