Daisy laughed. "Are you crazy? We'd get fired. You know the rules."

"My mom sits on the council. She'd never fire us." Liz leaned in. "The cameras are shut off at night and only on during the day when the pool is open, for insurance purposes. Nobody would know."

"Then, you take him." Daisy looked at Bane. "I want to stay here."

"I'm not going by myself with Dio." Liz glanced at Bane. "Bring him. Just the four of us."

"I don't know."

"Come on," pleaded Liz. "I came to the party for you..."

Bane looked over his shoulder at Dio, taking a drink from the table and tossing it back. Somehow, he'd missed how well Dio and Liz were getting along.

"Fine." Daisy blew out her breath. "I'm not going to let you go down alone."

"That's the spirit." Liz went to Dio, whispered in his ear, and grabbed his hand.

Bane stopped Daisy. "Are you sure?"

"No, but Liz wants to have fun." She gazed up at him. "And you have me believing nothing will happen when I'm with you, so let's go swimming."

Glad that she understood she was safe with him, he refrained from telling her that if she got caught swimming after hours, there probably wasn't a damn thing he could do to save her job. So that meant that they couldn't get caught.

Chapter Seventeen

Liz led the way through the office in the pool house. Daisy followed, holding onto Bane's hand. They looked like four criminals in the night.

"There's shorts in the Lost and Found bin," said Liz.

"I ain't wearing some other man's shorts." Dio shrugged out of his leather vest.

One security light from the pool area shined through the open door to the office. Daisy raised her brows at Liz. So much for her plan to go swimming.

Liz giggled. Daisy whipped her head in her friend's direction, unsure if that giddy sound came from her. The carefree laughter was one she was familiar with but hadn't heard since they were children.

"You're stripping down?" Liz bent at the waist, laughing.
