Not seeing any bikers outside, she parked the car off to the side and hurried up to the house. Letting herself in, she hung her purse on the hook in the entryway and walked into the living room.
Priest sat in the chair in front of the windows and swung his gaze to her. "Babe."
She strolled in front of the others surrounding the couch and kissed Priest. "No phone call from my parents?"
"Nope." He tugged her down onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her. "Good day at work?"
"Long." She put her lips against his ear. "You promised to meet my folks alone, without the club."
"They'll go outside when your parents get here." His gaze softened. "It's business. They're not going to leave their president while I deal with your dad."
"It's my family," she muttered, not looking at the others.
She was embarrassed to bring it up in front of the others. They probably thought she was overreacting.
"Nicole?"
She turned and faced the others, finding Rick lifting his chin at her. "Yes?"
"Tracy sent a casserole full of noodles and non-meat stuff. I put it in the fridge," said Rick.
Touched by the help and Tracy remembering that her parents held tight to a vegan diet, she smiled. "Can you tell her thank you for me, and let her know I'll call her once my parents leave?"
"Sure." Rick pulled a pack of smokes out of his vest and walked out of the room.
Paco, Curley, Roddy, Whip, Frank, and Jerry all got up, following Rick. The front door closed.
She shifted on Priest's lap. He tightened his hold on her.
"What's bothering you?" he asked.
"I wasn't expecting the others here. It's my parents. I just want to see them and show them where I'm living. I know you want to talk to my dad, but I also want them to get to know you...without them. You have to realize that when the Tarkio members are together, they're formidable."
"They'll stay outside and make themselves scarce." He gathered her hands. "I'll be talking to your dad tonight to get it out of the way. That way, you can enjoy their stay."
"What if he says no?"
"He won't."
"You don't know that."
He squeezed her hands. "I do. Once the deal is made and I believe everything is going to go okay with the visit, the Tarkio members will leave, and you can have your family time with your parents."
A heaviness settled in the pit of her stomach. He made it sound simple, and she wasn't as confident. Her dad could up and leave once the truth comes out about why she'd asked him to come to Missoula.
Priest drained the last of his beer. "I need to take a piss."
She slid off his lap. Nervous about tonight, she followed him into the bathroom and leaned against the doorframe.
"This is the first time I've asked my mom and dad to visit me since I left home." She chewed on her bottom lip. "I mean, they came from southern California before they moved into the commune, and they take day trips every few months, but they usually stay in the woods. What if they hate what they see in Montana and want to go home before they learn about my life?"
"They won't."
"How do you know?" she asked.
He tucked his cock into his jeans and walked toward her. "Because you're their daughter. They'll stay for you."
She pointed to the sink. "Wash."
