Page 64 of Peer & Coco

Peer walked across the alley and entered the back of the bar. He might as well keep himself busy until seven o'clock rolled around, and Coco came to work.

At five minutes after seven, he threw the bar towel on the counter and walked out of the building into the alley with customers lined up on the stools waiting for their drinks.

Spotting Joel, Dag, and Glenn, he jogged over to the group. "Where's Roar?"

"He's still in the clubhouse," said Joel.

He strode to the door and went inside. Scanning the room, he found Tyr sitting on a mat playing with a mound of toys. He walked toward the back, looking in the kitchen, and headed toward the meeting room where he found Roar.

He filled the doorway. "Where is she?"

Roar looked up from the table. "Coco called a few minutes ago and asked for the night off. Heather and Monica are going to cover her area. If it gets too busy, I'll go home and watch the baby while Lizzy comes over and fills in at The Fire Ring."

Coco never called off work. Since she'd been hired at the bar, she worked regardless if she had a slight cold or wasn't feeling the best.

"Let Dinah know she's covering all the drinks tonight. I'm going over to your house to talk with Coco, whether the Fed is there or not." He stepped backward into the hallway.

"She's not at my house." Roar leaned back in the chair.

He stopped. "Where is she?"

Roar stared him down.

"Damnit, Prez." He gritted his teeth. "Loyalty, brother."

"Coco is special to me. She's my woman's best friend. She's become my friend, and I care about her as if she was family."

Peer's pulse throbbed, and he fisted his hands. Coco was his. "Where is she?"

"I'm only going to tell you where you can find her if you can tell me if you're serious about keeping her." Roar latched his hands behind his head. "If you're going to walk away from her eventually, you can go back to work."

"She's mine. I'm not going anywhere without her," he said.

Roar dipped his chin. "She figured out tonight, while you're at work, would be a good time to go back to your house and pack up her things. She's recruited Aron and Rune to help her."

"Jesus," he muttered, swinging around and jogging through the clubhouse and out the front door.

At his Harley, he slapped his helmet on his head, latching the chin strap. He brought the motorcycle to life and rode toward the gate.

The newest prospect opened the street to him, and he headed home without a second thought that he'd left the bar unattended. Roar could deal with his absence. Winning back Coco came first.

He needed her.

Tyr needed her.

They were a family, and he wouldn't let her break them apart.
