"Tell me when you don't have Dinah on your mind?" He walked forward, set his empty bottle on the table, and turned and faced them both again. "Same with you, Prez. You're running Slag while your thoughts are on Lizzy and the baby in her stomach. Yet, I'm not lecturing you on the jobs you're doing. I can do my fucking job."
"Are you going to stay away from the Brikken woman?" asked Roar.
"Can't promise you that."
Roar exchanged a look with Brage. Elling tensed. They could blow sleeping with Jacqueline into something larger than it was and it wouldn't change the fact that when he was around her, he wanted her. Her last name hadn't scared him away.
She was a Stanton by blood, not marriage. She was single and available.
"Can you get information on Brikken from her?" asked Brage.
He shrugged. "Haven't tried."
"Think about that when you're there." Roar lowered his voice. "I'm going to get a crew together and make one more visit to Pitnam."
"You think Bantorus will let you roll in?" he asked.
"I know they won't, but I received new information that they're holding the money at Cactus Cove. They think it's better protected. The Federal Chapter up in Idaho sells legal guns to the militia, and I've heard rumors that the parts are put in holding in one of the cabins behind the joint in Pitnam before they're taken the rest of the way. On Friday, there will be a room full of guns waiting for us to put them together."
"Or, don't, and let the Mother Chapter manufacture them once they receive them. It'll save space in the crates," he said.
Roar nodded. "In and out of our hands is best."
"When do you want me to head to the hotel?"
"Any time. Campbells not outside. He's probably regrouping after losing out on Dag confessing and taking us all down."
"I'll get ready." He walked away.
Several feet away, Roar called his name. He turned around.
"If at any time, you feel being at the hotel isn't going to work out, come home." Roar looked him in the eyes. "Watch your back. I can't lose you."
"You..." He closed his mouth, preferring to leave without a word, and walked away.
Roar and Brage would take care of themselves without him reminding them. He took the stairs two at a time and went into his room to pack his duffle.
He would miss out on the run but knowing he kept Agent Campbell away from Slag clubhouse and clueless about the activity going on with the club was worth the sleepless nights.
As for getting information from Jacqueline, he'd prefer to keep her separate from his purpose within Slag. She might have the Stanton last name, but he no longer had to worry about sleeping with some other man's woman.
She made that clear when she came to his room naked under her robe.
